Hello, I am a single mom of a 19 month baby girl and an 8 month baby boy. I'm currently going through a divorce and I'm looking for support, someone that I can relate to and has gone through a similar situation or has small babies to get together in my area for play dates. I currently live in Belleville, NJ. Please e-mail me if you have any suggestions for groups in my area. Thank you!
Thanks everyone- I went on meetup.com and there isn't anything in my area for single moms- The nearest groups are in NYC- Any other suggestions?

What about a local MOMS club (mom's offering moms support) .. it is a national organization... organized at a local level... There is a website. Good luck!
I live a few towns away from you. I met some friends at the library playgroup and story hours. There is also a meadowlands area MOMS club. I don't know the contact person but try looking online. You might also check out the meetup.com listings for a parents group or playgroup near you. I just saw one on my email this week for Montclair area and there used to be a Bloomfield one as well. Also the Clifton Barnes and Noble has story hours (Wed and Sat. at 11 am) and a train table where lots of kids come to play. My kids are a bit older--24 months and almost 5--but you are email me.
I just found a great single mom's group at a local church. Go onto the websites for some of the larger churches & look for their small groups or call the church to see if they have one. The other option would be to start your own single mom's group for your area on meetup.com.
Sorry I don't live near you at all but I had a couple ideas of places to go to get out of the house and be around other moms. Try your local library. Mine has storytimes during the week for mommies and babies. Also look into your community for mommy and me groups, swim classes, yoga groups etc. Also do you belong to a church? Lots of churches also have play groups weekly. Hope this helps give you some ideas.
