Hi everyone, I am a single mom and want to take my 9 year old daughter on a vacation for spring break next March. I would love to go somewhere in the Caribbean. I have been to Cancun and the Bahamas at all-inclusive resorts the past couple years and would really like to share that with my daughter. I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of good places/resorts to go to as a single parent? Or areas that are not safe for her and I to travel alone? Thanks!

**I should've specified before cruises don't work because I have really horrible motion sickness. And I would LOVE to go to the Atlantis, we stayed right by it in the Bahamas and walked over there and all around it. But that place is waaaay out of my price range!

What can I do next?

I loved the Grand Caymen Island.

Also, maybe you could check out the Disney Cruise to Atlantix in the Bahamas... that way you are on a kid friendly ship and can get off and check out the beach too.

My brother takes his kids every year for christmas and they love the disney cruise ship...it is geared for kids, but has plenty of stuff for adults to do too.

I took my daughter to key west when she was that age. Also, you might want to think about a 3 day cruise.

We loved FDR Resorts in Jamaica when my kids were litte. Would love to go back since they offer 1/2 price for famies with special needs (my youngest, who wasn't born our first trip) has down syndrome. Love the place because it gives you a nanny all day in the price, plus $5/hour (at that time) for nightime sitting. You can be with your kid, be along, or be with your kid and nanny on outings or whatever, as much as you want. Plus, the resorts are small so you can find her if you want pretty easily.

Atlantis in the Bahamas is fascinating! They have viewing pools everywhere with different sea animals in them and a water slide that slides thru a shark tank! The swimming pools and the beaches are beautiful also. And the resort itself looks like a giant pink and gold castle. Lots to choose from in rooms and cost.

Nowhere is entirely safe, but what about California, of Florida, or My step son goes to the Northeast- can't remeber exactly where- but he has pictures of the kids on the beach, Myrtle beach. There are lots of places in the states that offer beaches. Not necessarily safer than anywhere else, but if you do have a problem- at least you are in your own country trying to get help
