My son is sick and I took him to the er and everything went well.
He had a running mode, coughing, sneezing, and vomiting but now he's starting to smell funky. Like if he did poop but there's none. Plus his stomach is a bit inflated and he's a little fussy when he farts.
He hasn't pooped today either...

What could it be? Should I take him back in??

What can I do next?

Call the pedi to be sure. You can give him prunes (the pureed ones from Gerber) or prune juice and that definitely helps relieve constipation and makes them go. Also make sure he is drinking enough liquids. If he is or was vomiting then he could be low on liquids. Be sure to keep him hydrated.

Yeah, once he goes to the bathroom, he'll feel better.

Also, there is an enterovirus going around. We had it. I took my daughter in, because it looked like the flu (headache, stuffy head, general achiness, fever) - there is a flu strain going around her school that wasn't in the vaccine. Doc told me that it's just an enterovirus. And a fairly mild one, at that. She said the major symptom differences are a lower fever - above 104, think flu. And bad gas, with bloating. Some kids also get naseau and diarrhea, but they all get bad gas. Think 3-5 days of it. And, by the way, it's highly contagious. Our whole house had it.

He needs to poop! Have you heard of fleet suppositories? Any pharmacy will have them over the counter, they are just glycerin, very easy to administer and they poop immediately after. He'll feel so much better!

I would say he is gassy as well.

Follow up with pediatrician or your pedi's onstaff nurse; more reasonable than an ER bill. If your toddler hasn't gone then give him a small container of prunes (first foods baby food) or give him a fresh soft plum to eat. I hope your little one gets to feeling better soon.

Is he feeling better? I would have at least called his pediatrician to follow up. It could be constipation and gas because those do distend the stomach and would of course cause all the fussiness. I rub my kids' stomachs counter clock-wise and give them apple juice when they feel that way. It tends to help but I would still call because of him having those other symptoms. Good luck, I hope he feels better!

Sounds like he has some bad gas! Give him apple juice a few times a day until he is able to poop. (Apple juice will naturally soften his stools so he won't be constipated anymore, just give him about 4oz at a time, I would say no more than 3-4 times per day, just until he's able to get it all out)
