Poor baby! All 3 of my kids are sick with colds right now!
For the baby, I give a little Infants Motrin to help with discomfort...I raise the head of her crib up one notch, and use a humidifier. If she's coughing, baby vicks on the bottoms of the feet works well...it's like an old wives tale or something, but it's amazing!

LOTS OF FLUIDS - like water...juice is too sugary.

To be safe, have her see the pediatrician.

For coughs & congestion, I use infant Tylenol, Vics baby rub on the chest, and a humidifier in the room. I also keep my little ones extra hydrated (water, Pedialyte, or juice) to flush the bug out of their systems. I don't use any of the over the counter medicines.

Hi S.,

I agree with the humidifier and the drops in the nose frequently. The other thing I do that works wonders for the cough...instead of putting the Vicks on the chest, put it on the soles of her feet and then put socks on her. You'll be amazed.

Poor thing! My sons got sick when they were 7 months old and we put a cool mist humidifier in their room at night (what a difference!) and made sure to put saline drops in their noses at every diaper change (since they're already lying down). That helped keep the congestion moving. We also put infant Vicks (Target brand is the same and MUCH cheaper) on their chests twice a day to keep their chests from getting too congested. From there, lots of rest and TLC.

We left sippy cups full of water in their play area all the time so they could drink when they wanted to, instead of having to ask for it. We found they drank a lot more that way (and still do).

Definitely talk to your pediatrician before using any OTC medications. Mine said that we couldn't use any of them and to stick with the Vicks, humidifier, etc.
