Ok, I need some help and fast!! My 2 year old daughter has show and tell tomorrow at daycare and she needs to take an item that starts with a Q. I thought of Quail (her daddy is a hunter but doesn't have a quail), quarter but that is too simple, quilt (she doesn't have a special one) and quiet but I would have no clue what to take for that! Anyone have any easy yet unique ideas?? PLEASE HELP!!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for the awesome ideas!!! I guess I didn't really think about how many different "Q" things there are out there! So, this is what we went with! My daughter loves animals so her dad had the idea of taking a duck and then she can tell her class what a duck says - "QUACK QUACK". Her uncle loves to duck hunt and he gave her this one duck decoy so that is what she took. I hope it goes well. One other kid was getting there the same time as her this morning and he didn't have show and tell so at least she will have something to share with her class!!!

Thanks again to you all! Have a fabulous weekend!!!!

How about a Q-tip?

For Qual and Quilt you could print some pictures from the computer.

It sounds like you have received a lot of good ideas!

I particularly like the idea of playing with the word quart -- you could bring in a quart size milk jug, then also a quart size ziplock bag, and then maybe a 4 cup measuring cup. Then you could put some food dye in some water and pour it between the different Quart sized containers so the kids could get an idea that a quart is a measure of volume. You could also play on the etymology of quart - which is the same root that is in quarters and the verb to quarter which makes be think you could slice up some quesidillas in four pieces -- quadrant also fits.

Have fun!

There is a fruit called a quince - I used one for a project at school once! Maybe Wegman's or Whole Foods would have it? Not sure about other grocery stores since it is a bit unusual.

This is a REALLY geeky answer, and only Star Trek:Next Generation fans will get it, but I couldn't help myself :)

A picture of the Actor: John DeLancie - who played the character "Q" in the series.

Sorry ladies, forgive my geeky humor!

Also - there is a grain called Quinoa - you can probably find it at whole foods - it's quite tasty, better for you than rice - so she can bring the box, maybe you can make some for everyone to try if it's allowed. Enjoy!

Queen, quiche, question mark. If you don't have something. You could print out a picture on the computer or cut out a question mark drawn on paper. She could color it.

Queen was my thought. Since I know my daughter has a ton of princess-esque stuff.

Why not make a Queen's Crown from construction paper and glue on as many "Q" words as you can find from the grocery ads, magazines etc.

For Quiet you could find a photograph of your daughter sleeping. presumably quietly.

Good luck, At least you don't have X.
