Should We Try and Conceive?

Hi,

I have one question. My doctor said it's time to try and conceive and I am currently in my fertile days, but I am taking Ciprofloxacin (eye drops - 5 mg), dexametazone (eye drops - 1 ml) and chloramfenicol (eye ointment - 1%) because I have an eye infection. I had a miscarriage a year ago and we don't want to wait anymore. Can anyone help me with an opinion?

What can I do next?

No, we can't. We are not doctors. Have you asked your doctor about this medication and conceiving? You NEED to! Give them a call. You can also call your pharmacy, they will know. You need a MEDICAL opinion.

Call your doctor and see what he/she says. I'm not sure how an antibiotic would impact your fertility, but unless someone on here is an MD... we wouldn't have a clue!

Call and ask- that's what they are there for. Good luck!

WELCOME TO MAMAPEDIA!!!

I'm sorry you had a miscarriage. It's a sad and hard thing to experience.

Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic. What does the label say - class A ratings on medicines that affect birth control, birth defects.

dextemazone is a steroid. Check the class on it.
I'm not familiar with chloramfenicol. This is what I found on-line

Your doctor told you to try and have a baby? WOW!!! Sorry - my doctor never told me it was time to try and conceive!! When your doctor told you this - did he/she know you were on these meds for an infection?

I can't tell you what to do. I would talk to your doctor before you try to conceive...you have an infection...it's in your blood stream....

good luck.

Your doctor should be able to tell you if these medications put you, your baby, or your fertility at risk.

If your doctor said it was time to try (and he is aware of all the medications you take) then I would think his educated and professional opinion is going to have a lot more weight in your decision than anything we could tell you.
