My husband and I have been going back and forth whether or not to move to Town of Queen Creek for the past year and I wanted to get other's opinion.
We currently live in Gilbert, but my husband works in QC. I currently have an established in-home daycare.
Here are some topics we've discussed:
The cost of living would be overall cheaper, but the cost of moving could outweigh it.
We would have to pack up the house.
I would have to close my daycare and would lose the income. I'm not sure if I could find new daycare kids if we moved, so it would be a loss of income.
We wouldn't have to rely on my daycare income to make ends meet. It may be a little tight, but my husband's income would cover our expenses.
I currently driving my daughter to and from preschool at QC Elementary 3 days a week and absolutely love the school. But she will be done with preschool in May, so I would no longer need to commute her back and forth.
My son would have to change schools and leave his friends.
We do like the neighborhood we are in, and like the house we are renting.
We would save a good chunk of money on gas not needing to commute.
We have several friends already living in the area.
I would love to hear others input on this.

To me, it does not make sense to move to QC just because your husband is working there now. What happens if he changes jobs and begins working anywhere else? He will end up with a horrible commute that will impact your family time together, not to mention wear out your vehicles faster and cost much more in gas. I don't see the advantage unless you feel his QC employment is 100% iron clad.
Well, I am in Gilbert and really love it here! The number one reason we love here over other parts of the valley are becuase of the schools. I would compare schools between Gilbert and QC. If QC has good schools as well, then go for it. For me though, I feel like it is too far out.
Not sure - it's a ways out. But it's so nice to be near work and schools.
We just recently moved from Gilbert to Mesa and are a little disappointed. We LOVE our new neighborhood and school. But the Gilbert city utilities were much less expensive. And even though we pay more for utilities in Mesa, we don't get bulk pick up or a free monthly trip to the dump - you don't realize how much you miss bulk pick up till you don't have it anymore.
If we were only a half a mile further west of here, we'd be on Gilbert soil.
Just saying, there are MANY things to consider. Best of luck with your decision.
If I were in your shoes, I would not move. Your savings will be less then your lost income. You will lost quality of your life.
We have lived in QC-now San Tan Valley for almost 5 years now and I would not recommend it. Especially if you are used to being close to restaurants, shops, movies, etc. We are originally from Southern California and lived in Florida for 6 years before we moved here so we were definitely used to being in suburb type area so this was quite a culture shock to us! Lots of horse property, goats & chickens !?! If you are looking for a rural area and don't mind being away from what we call "civilization", you might not mind it. It has gotten a bit better -we now have a Fry's, McDonalds, Walmart, and a Target fairly close but it is a good 20 minutes to get to the freeway if you want to go anywhere. I cannot tell you how many families we know that have moved here because it was cheap and have since left. Be careful also because some of the very cheap homes available are in neighborhoods that are not so nice (burglaries, etc)! Just make sure you do your homework on the neighborhoods and schools before making any decisions.
I think it would be a good move if you are fine with doing everything in town, or dealing with a long drive for attractions, downtown, activities, etc. I just mapped the drive from downtown Phoenix to Queen Creek & it was around a 50 minute drive one way. Personally, I know I wouldn't want to make a move like that, because we like to be located centrally & close to everything that Phoenix has to offer. I just wouldn't be happy that far out. Unless your family & friends are out that way, you may feel isolated because people tend to shy away from making a far drive like that & may not want to visit you as much.
