D..
I think that I'd leave it like that, or you will be vacuuming everytime. They may "conveniently" forget to put down paper if you make it too easy for them.
Really, you are doing enough already.

so my neighbors are away on vacation they left a few days ago and will be home sunday... we are very close with them theyve always lived nextdoor iv known them my whole life, iv even babysat their kids before.. anyway, im taking in their mail and taking care of their variety of animals while they are gone.. 2chinchillas, 2guines piges, 2 hamsters, fairly large fish tank, and hermit crabs (they sent their dog to the kennel/doggydaycare for the week thankfully) this is nothing new i do it for them all the time.. they have a big dining room table and they cover it with paper and put all the cages on the table so im not running all over the house from cage to cage.. every other time ive done this for them they have covered the floor all around the table with paper or with old bed sheets because the animals are a mess lol.. however this time they didnt.. theres food and hay and god knows what else all over the place, and i mean everywhere.. the guines pigs especially are a mess they knock over the food bowl and literally throw it all over the place.....what would you do.. be nice and vaccuum sunday afternoon before they come home or just leave it??
im assuming they were in a rush to leave and forgot to cover the floor.. its such a mess and its not like i dont know where they keep their vaccuum and i gotta lug mine over
thanks everyone.. i realized a little while ago that i didnt bring their newspaper in.. the guy that delivers them in the morning has horrible aim lol it was on the front lawn by bushes, so i go inside n i noticed the vaccuum is sitting in the back corner of their kitchen behind the table.. that makes things alot easier.. ill just do it real quick sunday after i feed the zoo before they get home.. if it was only some crumbs here n there i wouldnt bother but its a mess i kinda feel bad not doing it... and no they dont pay me for doing it theyre like family.. plus they said that when the time comes i need a babysitter their kids owe me a ton of favors for feeding all the critters they have 13 yr old twins and a 16yr old

I don't think you are obligated to vacuum, but if it were me, I would do it. Especially if they are such good friends/neighbors. It will only take you a few minutes and they will be thrilled to come home to a clean house instead of a big mess.
If you have time, do it! It is a very nice gesture!
I would vacuum. Another thing - a friend of mine who was house/pet-sitting for us a few years ago bought a few groceries for us the day we were returning home (milk, bread, juice, cereal). It was soooo nice! Now anytime I'm taking care of someone's home for them I do the same thing. It's an easy thing to do, and it means a lot.
id be nice and vaccum, what would you want done if it was the other way around?
It sounds like you're close with them, so I would vacuum. The next time they ask you to pet sit, remind them to put down a sheet.
I think it would be nice to vacuum for them. They will appreciate it. It would be awful to come home to that kind of mess!
I really think it's depends on the person. I would feel very odd if someone looked around my house and found my vacuum to clean. I don't really feel like people should be looking in my house for anything, but the agreed upon tasks. I owuld feel even MORE strange about someone actually carting over their own vacuum to clean. That's ME. If you THEY wouldn't care a bit, I guess go for it.
I pet sit my neighbor's cats. I vacuum for them when the shedding is crazy...they appreciate it very much.
sorry i'm not lugging a vaccuum, but i also don't feel great about not doing anything.
I personally, would bring or find a Broom and get rid of the big chunks and then let them take care of the actual vaccuming. Just minimize the mess, but not eradicate it.
Are they paying you? If yes definitely sweep/vacuum. If they don't it would still be nice of you. Rats will eventually move in!
Treat others as you want to be treated. I'd vacuum and if they notice, tell them it was a mess since they forgot a sheet. Next time, remind them if they forget, or just put the sheet out yourself. You're literally giving like 10 minutes of your time, and it saves them from coming home to a nasty home.
You would win neighbor of the year if you vacuumed for them - how nice would it be to come home to happy animals AND a clean floor?
As an aside, my daughter has been asking for a guinea pig forever, and after reading what you wrote, I am sooo glad I didn't get her one! lol
That's easy>>>I would vacuum! I would try and sweep up all the big stuff first...then vacuum.
I would clean up the mess.
Eh, I would vacuum.
:)
You are a wonderful friend and neighbor for taking care of their "zoo"!
Hi! I would vacuum for sure. They probably did forget in their rush to get out and you would be making their return so much nicer. I'll bet they would be horrified that they forgot. Look in a downstairs closet for the vacuum before you drag yours over, maybe it'll be right there in the coat closet. Thanks for being thoughtful!!!
If you don't really have the time to drag your vacuum back and forth I would just let them know when they get home. Let them know that you would have vacuumed but did not want to rummage through their home to find it. They will be thankful of you thinking about it in the first place. Next time, if they don't cover the floor, I would put down some newspaper yourself!
I prolly would just to be nice and im sure they wouldnt mind :) god knows i wouldnt
could you text them and ask where they keep their vacuum?
