My daughter showed up with a small cyst-like area under her arm about 2 weeks ago. I have recently noticed that it has turned red around it, and there are three sacs instead of the original 1. It has also spread kind of like a rash only on the front side of one side of her trunk. I don't notice her itching at it and the other areas look more like the original, skin-colored, cyst-like area. What is this? Do I need to take her to the doctor? Or is there an ointment I should try first? Sorry I am such a nervous mom (I felt one of her lymph nodes when she was a baby and thought she might have a cancerous lump :( ). I appreciate any help.
Okay, I called the pediatrician and they won't get her in. CAn anybody recommend another one in the area? I want to find one that can get my kids in when they need it, and one that can understand that issues with my first born cause me to be over portective.

I would take her to the doctor. If it looks like a boil it could be a staph infection which is very contagious and can be difficult to treat. I have heard that, at least in Oklahoma, staph is going around right now. If you want I would go to www.webmd.com and look up her symptoms just to help you get and idea before you go to the doc!! There are a variety of things this could be. If you have trouble getting your daughter into the doctor, you might consider going to your local pharmacy that has a registered nurse or physician's assistant. Those visits are inexpensive and easy to get into and accept most insurance. I would definitely recommend having it checked though. It could be anything from an inflamed lymph gland to an allergic reaction.
It sounds like Molluscom to me. My 3 year old has had it for about 2 years. It's a wart-like virus. It is VERY contagious and is spread through children for the most part. You can go to www.molluscom.com for more info. There are some pictures you can look at to see if it looks the same. I ordered the SilverCure from the website mentioned above and it seemed to help more than anything we tried. The doctors weren't much help. They could give me a cream that MIGHT work, or laser them off one-by-one. At the time my son had close to 40 spots. Hope this helps!!
I would take her to the doctor ASAP. I went camping over the summer, when I got back I had what I thought was chigger bites. Then I got a boil and it turned out it was MRSA. I had to take an antibiotic and put a cream in my nose. It was gross.
I do not know how big the "cysts" are. But if they are small and white then they could be Molluscum. My daughter had them and the doctors say there is nothing you can do for them but my husband and I found a site for silvercure. We followed the directions exactley and it was gone within 3 weeks. Def. take her to the doctor and if they say it is this then order the stuff I mentioned.
I say yes, you need to get her to the doctor and see what is up with this. If it were me, I'd call my doctors office ASAP and describe what's going on. How old is your daughter and does she have any caffeine intake? I had a cyst appear under my arm a few years back and was told that it was just a fibroid cyst due to caffeine intake. I was on a major chocolate kick at that time, ice cream, milk, you name it. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be anything serious.
I would take her to the doctor!! I take my kids to the Dr. for everything. I just feel like it is better to be safe and have the Dr. tell you nothing is wrong then to try to fix it yourself. It gives me a peace of mind to take them in and know that I am doing everything I can for them.
This sounds to me a lot like "water warts." If this is what they are, there is an acid cream that can be prescribed, but many children outgrow them. They don't itch or hurt the kid, but they don't look nice either. My son used to have a large number on his trunk and legs. We did the medicine for a while, but eventually he just outgrew them. He doesn't have any marks where they used to be. It only takes a tiny bit of medicine on each bump, and you have to be careful to only put it on the bump because it is an acid. It doesn't burn at the touch, but it can irritate healthy skin and that is painful.

B. I do not know what it could be if it were me I would would take her to the doctor.It may not be anything but you never know.It doesn't hurt to be too safe when it comes to your children.I hope it isn't anything to worry about and with some meds. it will go away.
I have never heard of anything like this. I would take her to the Dr. I figure it is better safe than sorry. I have 2 boys and we are always at the ER or Dr. It is no big deal, that is what they are there for. To help us and calm our nerves :)

I would take her to the doctor. The way it sounds it might be something that a dermatologist should see but that will be up to your pediatrition.
you should take her to the dr. cuz you want to be safe then sorry. i use to get cyst under my arms but never more then one at a time. It could be a numerous of things dear and the only way to know that it aint something to worry about is by asking a dr. When my son was still in my tummy they told me it looked like he had a lump on his stomach but it went away before he came out. Then when he was born we noticed that his little sac kept swelling it was a hernia so he had to have surgery. the point is always trust your instinct and if you think she needs to see a dr then she does. good luck and i hope it aint bad.
Yes, take her to the doctor. You have to at least diagnose what it is and see if there is a treatment specific for it. Rashes could be any number of things. The rash you describe sounds similar to one I had the first time I was pregnant.
Definitely call your Dr. There are minor things that cause rashes (which this might be), but also very serious things. Better safe than sorry!
it's called an absess, atleast that what mine looked like. Yes, take her to the doctor. But in the meantime, try holding a warm cloth on it for comfort. This is really odd for it to be with a child Let me know

Take your daughter to the doctor as soon as you can. If it started out as "one sac" and now there are three, it is spreading. It could be anything from a boil, cyst, who knows, but it sounds like it needs some kind of medical evaluation at least. I wouldnt try anything over-the-counter until you know what it actually is. Just good old old fashioned antibacterial soap and water, and even skip the lotion for a while. There are some medications that can aggrivate other conditions if you are attemtping to treat the wrong thing. For example, treating yeast type infection with steroid cream is not a good thing at all. IT can actually make it much worse.
