Should I Take a Test? I Don't Even Know What to Think

I was on the depo shot for about a year during which I had NO period. My last shot was June '08. I finally started having a period in jan '09 but then had 2 periods a month in Jan, Feb and March. March periods started the 8th and 22nd. Now in April I've missed my 1st period and so far am a few days/week late according to some other sites I looked at. I had my yearly exam on the 14th at 2pm and took a test which was neg. Could it have been to late in the day for the test or to early in the month? But if i had already missed my 1st period wouldn't the HCG levels be high enough to show on a test? So I'm still wondering if it's possible. My husband and I have a 19 month old son and are wanting another baby so if I am preg thats great and if not, oh well there's always next month, I'm only 25(he's 23) so we aren't really worried about my biological clock........ I just want to know already. I keep thinking I'll wait till the end of the month but I keep noticing symptoms that make me think I might be. I'm slightly nauseous in the morning(didn't really have morning sickness with 1st preg it was all day on and off nausea), nipples are slightly sore(dr said could just be menstrual symptoms, once again didn't have or don't remember from 1st preg)my gums hurt so bad when I brush my teeth(didn't have during 1st preg, I did gag when I brushed my teeth during 1st preg)I know none of these are guarantees and I keep thinking well "such and such" could be from"----")and I have to pee ever 10-20 minutes and am not even drinking that much. It doesn't hurt when I pee so I'm pretty sure it's not bladder/UTI. but I don't know how long I should make excuses before taking a test OR am I still messed up from the depo? but would I have 2 periods a month for 3 months and then stop having them again? I'm not stressed and I can't really think of anything else going on in my life that would stop my period.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I took 2 tests this morning, both negative. I took 1 at 6am and the line was SOOOOO faint that I decided to take another around 830. that one was a darker neg. I looked at the 1st test(after 10 min time limit) and it had a faint positive, looking at another site(which stated- The line appeared after the 10-minute time limit. Is it still positive? No. You can't rely on any test results that appear after the time limit. There is a reason the tests have a time limit-- and torturing us is not usually that reason ;) If a line appears in the "results" window after the time specified in the directions, wait a couple days and test again. HPT's are rapid assay diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid-- after this time, natural changes in the chemicals may cause lines to appear.

Anyway so I guess I'm just running late this month or am not having one at all... I don't know.

Just go buy a multi-pack of tests. If it's negative, try again in a few days or a week. No harm done, no need to wonder. Best of luck!

Take the test. Not everything affects everyone the same. In 96, I went off Depo. I had my last shot Sept '96 with the mext one due Dec of '96. By the end of Jan '97 (yes, only fourth months or so after the last shot), I was pregnant. The idea that Depo will last up to 18 months after going off it just isn't true for everyone.

Don't worry so much! it could be your stressing over everything causing some of the symptoms. Depo really screws people up especially when they quit taking it. a friend of mine was on it and she had really bad anger issues because of it. Personally I had bad reactions with Mirena. its been out for about 2 months going on 3 and I've yet to have a period. so go buy a test or two if it will put you at ease otherwise just try to relax.

A test doesn't cost that much and will set your mind at ease, those First Response tests can tell as soon as the first day of your missed period. Congrats if you are = )

HI C., I would go buy a pregnancy test and I would get the one that has two in it. I have PCOS and was wondering if it was just systoms from it or if I was pregnant and I asked for advice on here and everyone told me to just go take a test cause you never know, so I did and it turns out that I am pregnant! The systoms that I was having weren't exactly the same systoms that I had when I was pregnant with my first so I wasn't sure but I took the test and sure enough it came back postive and we will be having our little guy, June 4th. Please let us all know how your test comes out if you decide to take one! God Bless and Good Luck!

You sound pretty stressed to me. Aren't those shots suppose to last like a year or so. I know they mess with peoples cycles. I think if by May 1 you don't have a period you should have the preg test again.

Stop stressin' over it and take the test already!! :)
At least when you do, you'll know for sure. If it comes back neg. then focus on what symptoms you have and do what you can to treat them. If it comes back pos. then start preparing the nursery.

Plain and simple. Good luck!! ls

Why worry, just go buy a test?

I was on Depo and it messed my periods up to the point they were never "regular" again without the help of medication.

The test are so cheap now, just go get one, our Price Chopper pharmacy has them in the back for a dollar a piece, and the Dollar Store carries them too.
