So I am looking for a full time job. I applied with a company and had two interviews. The second interview lasted an hour and a half ( the longest interview in my life) at the end of the interview the DM gave me her business card and told me to call her if I had any questions and that they would let me know their decision by today. I haven't heard from yet. My question is should I call them, or just wait a couple more days? I don't if they decided not to hire or what!

I'm trying to be patient, but its hard! TIA

What can I do next?

If you haven't heard yet, call or email & say/write something like this:

"I know you were planning on making a decision today so I thought I'd check in and see if you have any final questions you'd like to ask me. I'm still very, very interested in the position and would be happy to talk with you at any time. Thanks for your interest in me and feel free to call me at (phone number here)."

It's never too late until AFTER someone else has started! Keep after the job you want!

Send them a thank you letter/note as a follow-up to let them know that you are really interested in the position. You can google sample notes.

Is her email address on the card? Did you send a thank you letter or email for her time? If not, please do and let her know how much you would like to be a part of their TEAM.

Best wishes.

It is pretty late in the day to call, so I would just wait until Monday morning.

Did you happen to send her a Thank You card after your second interview?

Keisha:

Follow up is a good thing. You are showing your interest in the position as well as following directions (call if you have questions).

Have you heard from the recruiter?
Did you send a thank you note for the interviews?
Did you follow up with an e-mail after the second interview stating how you feel your experience matches the position and you are excited to be part of the team?

I would call and leave a voice mail. Let her know you are still interested in the position, if they need any further information to please contact you.

Good luck!

yes. if they're planning to hire you, it will simply confirm in their minds that you want the job and are eager to part of their team. if they're not, no harm done.

Being given a business card is an open invitation to follow up. I always ask for their card instead of waiting to be offered one though. I'm in sales where I have to demonstrate the follow up, even interviewing four to ten levels or colleagues complete with business plans and presentations.

I hope you have sent the thank you notes at a minimum. I'm not sure when you interviewed, too bad you have not followed up yet...Monday mornings are crazy! I would call and leave a voicemail today expressing my continued interest. They know to reach out to you with additional questions, it is up to you to promote yourself.

Best of luck!!

Yes, call. She offered you the card so use it! Just call and say something like..... Thank you for your time on WhateverDay and I'm really excited about this opportunity. Please let me know if you have any additional questions for me. Thank you.

Of course, she will not have any other questions, but you have put yourself back on her radar so you will either get your rejection letter in the mail soon or another call from her.

Although, I worked in HR and the people we were interested in were never wondering - we moved them through pretty quickly. But it's also not this job market with tons of applicants to get through. They may just be continuing their interviews for this round in the hiring process and haven't seen everyone yet to make their short list.

Either way, a respectful call that shows your continued interest never hurts.

Although, I had to chuckle at ALs response a bit - a thank you note is totally fine, but I laugh because we would get some thank you notes very personal in nature - with a spritz of perfume, a very casual or childish stationary. Just make sure any thank you note you send is absolutely professional, so your potential employers are not laughing at your silliness :)

Absolutely call.

I used to work for a boss that would wait and see who called and offer the job to the one who called back more than once.

Don't feel like you're bothering them...just say, "this is Keisha, and I'm following up after our interview...I'm still very interested in working for your company and I enjoyed our time together or whatever.
The job I have now was given to me because I called to follow up after the interview. It keeps your name front and center.

If they're interested they will call. Give it until the end of the day Monday and then move on. There may be some fields where persistence makes the difference because they want someone very assertive/aggressive, but in most cases they're not sitting around waiting to hire someone based on whether they follow up with a phone call, email, or thank you card. Most business people are very busy and having every prospective employee call to inquire about their employment status can be annoying.

IF you haven't already done it, send a thank you note.. and state in it that you appreciate their time taken out for the interview and also reiterate your interest in the job. ALSO.. can you drop this note off in person (not to the manager) but do they have a front desk? Thing is... if you drop the note off and assuming the manager is there, I bet they call you asap.. even if it means no to the job.. at least you ll know one way or another.. I have had two jobs in the past whereby my thank you made all the difference and because of the thank you card, I was offered the job. in other words, I stood out.. Personally.. I don't send a typed thank you note like some do... NOPE.. I go to a store like Papyrus and buy a really nice thank you card that I think fits the person who interviewed me. Some might not agree with this approach.. but hey, it's worked for me a couple of times now..

good luck

Hi, Keisha:

The request was to call them if you had any questions and
they would let you know their decision by today.

If they don't call you as agreed, you don't need that job.
You want to work at a place where the people have integrity,
they do what they say they will do.

Good luck.
