Can my infant daughter recieve her four month shots when she is congested?
Please research all the ingredients in the vaccines she would be getting. Then decide if you want to inject her with all those foreign questionable ingredients when her immune system is already low.
No. The package inserts are very clear that you should be healthy before receiving shots. I would not risk mixing an illness with toxins being injected into my wee infant.
By the way, it is NOT up to the doctor. It is up to you. We all need to take responsibility for any medical decisions that we make. We cannot pawn it off on anyone else. After all, we are the ones who live with the consequences, not some stranger with an MD.
Definitely up to the Dr. Mine has given the go ahead with one of my daughters before. Nothing bad ever happened. But of course if you feel better about waiting, then do so. Waiting a week or two isn't a big deal either.
even if she can, why not wait to load up her system with foreign material until she's feeling better?

It is up to the doctor, most will wait until she is not sick but if it is allergies so be it then, they will. The reason they wait until they are better is
1. you cannot see a reaction to the shot if there is already so much going on.
2. a immunization wares on your immune system for about 2 weeks, if you immune system is already trying to fight 1 thing adding another to it is how most people get sick after a shot. Ever heard someone say I got the flu from getting the flu shot. Not true they had it in their system before and it showed up after. Think of it this way you have an army in battle fighting some where and now you have to pull half of that army way to fight somewhere else now your defense is weaker because there are fewer fighting each fight, they will get stronger but in time. 2 weeks.
The doctor will usually make the call -if she's REALLY congested -both nose and chest, obviously feeling bad or if there's fever, they probably won't do the shots. If it's just a slight congestion that doesn't really seem to be bothering her or causing issues, they probably will, but you can wait until she clears up if you think it may bother her. Neither of my sons has ever had any reaction at all to any vaccine -no grouchiness, fever -nothing. My oldest had several shots at once when he had a cold w/congestion, but no fever.
