I am looking for a great preschool for my almost three year old. I live in Shoreline, so something close is preferable. Does anyone have ideas for me?

So What Happened?

We finally decided on Shorecrest Preschool. He was on the waiting list, but finally got in. His older brother attended and loved it. He's only just three and this is a great start for him. Thanks for all your wonderful suggestions!

There is a pre-school through the shoreline school system at Shorecrest high school (I think). The high school students who are enrolled in childhood development help teach the class. I think if you go to the Shoreline school district website, go to early childhood development. I don't know all the links. My friend had her daughter go their this past year and really liked it. I don't know at what age they start.

Most amazing preschool on the planet...Chelsea House Montessori.

WARNING : (And I'm serious about this...) If you're planning on regular public school, it may be better NOT to use this preschool. We got so used to our son coming home talking about the scientific names of parts of plants, knowing what the areas of the brain (and all the other organs/systems of the body!) are called, talking about how sound moves, learning how to read and do + - x / (simple), geography, coming home with all kinds of art from bead necklaces to Eric Carle-type artwork...that when we put him in public school we were crushed. The PS curriculum doesn't catch up to where he was at when he was 4 until the 3rd grade!!! And the preschool was FUN, they didn't drill the kids or try and pound stuff into them. Aargh.

In any event. Most amazing preschool ever. It's on the border in between Shoreline & Lake City.

My own little preschool just started Aug. 4 - and there are 3 preschools just on the our ''''street'''' ( 125th between 15th and lake City Way - ) Mine is the Lily Pad Prescool- listed in the mamasource list - and naturally I think IT's best ( how could I not?) - but this area -- has an abundance of churches that have opened - or allowed a separate entity to have a use agreement and open- a preschool- it's such a natural use of space that would otherwise go unused during the week--- Ours is a lovely, green and open space -- let me know if you'd like more information-

I used the Shoreline CC Parent-Child Center while I was a student there. Since I left almost 18 months ago things have changed, but I was **NOT** impressed with the way things were being managed.

Both Shoreline and Edmonds CC have coop preschools all over the Shoreline, Edmonds, Lynnwood,m LFP area. Look on the CC website under coop preschools or Family Life and Education. I live in Edmonds (which isn't too far, depending on what part of Shoreline you are in) and while visiting preschools in this area I really liked Edmonds Montessori (in the Francis Anderson Center) , Olympic View Montessori (in Perrinville Village) and The Children's Center at the United Methodist Church on 9th and Caspars.

My son attended Tessera Arts Preschool at 190th and 10th NE in Shoreline and LOVED it. He's not continuing there only because we moved to Bellevue. www.tesseraarts.com
