I need to find out if it is cheaper to shop at the BJs or Sams for baby products instead of the supermarket. I need to purchase a high chair and a stroller. I currently have both but do not want travel with them when I relocate. By the way how long does a child use a high chair.

What can I do next?

Personally, I hate BJs, they just don't seem to have as good of a selection as Costco and Sam's Club.

As far as the highchair thing goes, I would save the money and space and buy a booster seat. They are portable when you are visiting friends, they can be put away when friends come to visit, they take up way less space than a high chair, AND they last your child until they are big enough to sit at the table on their own.

By the way: I was born and raised in Baltimore! Still here 25 years later!

My older son used his highchair until he was about 2 1/2 years old, then we switched to a booster seat that goes in a regular chair. I know that Sams/BJs is cheaper for buying baby products in bulk (like pampers, wipes, juice boxes, etc..), but I'm not sure that single items like a high chair would be cheaper. If you don't mind having slightly used items, you might want to check in the penny saver ( a free publication you'll get weekly in Rosedale) where people sell items they no longer need. Or you can check out a local yard sale. I have found super deals using both of these methods and the stuff was in great condition for really cheap. Just 2 days ago, I found a really nice graco stroller at a yard sale for $10. I just washed it down, disinfected it and it's good to go. Hope this helps.

If you don't mind a little travel, check out the website Craigslist.org for used items of all kinds. It has been my experience that kids outgrow most baby toys/items long before they break down, so there is no reason not to clean them up and move them on to the next mom. Craigs List has a great baby/kid section for the Baltimore area. You just have to meet up with the mom or dad selling the item you need. As far as diapers and wipes and such, BJs beats the grocery store hands down for price.

Hi, we have a temporary membership at BJ's. As far as baby products go, it really depends on who has the items on sale and if you have a coupon. We just purchased Huggies size 4 diapers at BJ's for 29.99 and we had a 1.50 coupon. They came in a box of 150 diapers. For the most part, the price is comparable to other vendors. If you buy the diapers in bulk, I've noticed that it varies store to store on the amount of diapers in each box per size. I just received a $5 off Pampers/Huggies 72 count or larger box of diapers for Babies R Us. So, just try and get money saving coupons for your purchases. As far as high chairs and various equipment go, check out the Pennysaver like the other woman mentioned, and also Craigslist.com is a great resource for second hand items.
