Get her some with a little heel and have her wear them around the house to get comfortable in them. Just get her some inexpensive ones at Target or Kohl's. I'm sure you'll find some dressy ones with Easter and all.
I have kind of a silly question for you Mamas. My 7 year old is going to a daddy daughter dance with her dad at school in a few weeks. The theme this year is semi formal so we got her a really pretty dress to wear and we have been looking for shoes. She has been begging for "heels". My only concern is her ability to dance in them. What do you think ladies? I'm not talking like stilletos or anything of course- but just a small little girl heel to make her feel grown up. I think it will look cute but like I said I worry about her being able to run around and dance and play with her friends. Lat year's theme was Hawaiian so she wore sandals and the year before that was a sock hop so she wore little white sneakers with her poodle skirt. Also, anyone have any ideas on where to find dress shoes for girls that are wider? We have the hardest time finding dress shoes to fit her.
Thanks everyone!
Thanks ladies! You guys are awesome! I am going to look at the links you all suggested with my daughter when she gets home from school. I usually don't let her do "grown up" stuff but this time I think it's harmless and will make her happy and I know a few of her friends are doing the same thing and I think it will be fun for her to compare her "heels" with them. She's so excited for the dance and I love the time we get to spend together getting ready for the dance and then she gets to go off and have a special night with her daddy and have a blast with her friends.

I wouldn't get her anything that was much more than an inch heel.
These have a 1 1/4 inch heel:

there are many varieties. payless has little pumps you can buy. walmart has some sweet little white heals (my 6 year old has them). or you can by silver ones with rhinestones. for wider shoes try stride rite maybe.

You can find shoes with a little wedge. It will be more comfy for her. Try the Children's place or 6pm.com.
Both my girls have been to many of these events over the years and the little girl "heels" you're talking about are just fine, almost all the girls wear them with no problem.
Try Penny's for wide shoes. As for heels and wanting to feel "grown-up" - I've always been of the opinion to let little girls be little girls. They want to be more grown up than they are since toddler days and before you know it they'll be grown up and the little girl days are over. She's 7 - not 10. I know waht you mean though - they always want to be older and more mature. then they'll get to our age and realize not to be in such a rush...
