Hi A.,
I reccommend that you go see your Dr. to find out if it shifted. I had the Mirena IUD for almost 3yrs and then went in for my annual check and found out that it had pushed through part of my uterus. This meant that I was not getting the full effects and had a higher chance of getting pregnant. I was told by the Dr. that some people will have a reaction to the IUD and the body will reject it as a foreign object and try to push itself out. I had to have the IUD removed. Since we knew we were done having children, I decided to get my tubes tied.

I hope this helps. Have a very Merry Christmas!

A., I had an IUD put in after the birth of my daughter and like you I was feeling the same thing. I noticed something sticking out and that's when i called my ob/gyn. She said the IUD shifted and removed it. I had to take a different kind of birth control due to having a tilted uterus.

Mine got lost waaaay up in my abdominal cavity. What was supposed to be a 20 minute laparoscopic surgery to remove it turned into a three hour "hide-and-seek" game to find it...

Go see your doctor!

I had the Mirena input last August. In December 2008, I had sever abdominal pain. Went to the ob and found out it had shifted. I had it removed and have decided to try the pill for a while. That pain was unbearable. Make your appointment soon.

Call the dr!! I know of several women who that happened to and one lady it traveled into her fallopian tube and another lady, well they aren't sure where exactly it is! Also, sometimes it perforates the uterus which can be dangerous. So you need to have this taken care of before it becomes a huge problem.

This is one of the reasons why I would never want an IUD...it scares me!!

I would think that the only thing you can do is see the OB as soon as you can. They are the only ones that can fix it. Best of luck to you!
