Hi T.,
I don't know about the shark, but I have a Scooba robotic mop. It is absolutely the best thing I every bought -- next to the Roomba vacuum, that is! It is marketed as safe for laminate floors, although I don't have one so I can't attest to this. I do use it on my glued hardwood floors, though. BTW, the Roomba and Scooba are pretty pricey (about $300 - $400 each), but very durable and well worth it!
The Scooba does a light sweep of the floor to pick up small bits of dust and loose dirt, then puts down fresh cleaning solution, scrubs, and siphons up the dirty liquid. It squeegees the floor and leaves it close to dry. (My stone floors dry completely within 5 minutes. The wood floors dry much faster.) This thing works so well, it's even gotten my grout clean on my stone floor. I also use it on my marble floors, tile, and hardwood. The best part is, all you have to do is fill the tank and push the button, then walk away for about 45 minutes while it does all of the work for you--no scrubbing, pushing, wringing, etc. It's very easy to clean out and the battery is rechargeable.
Check out irobot.com for a video demo. You can buy direct from them, or they sell these at Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and Sears. BTW, I do NOT work for the company.
