OK Ladies, I'm trying to lose the weight on my belly so I want to prepare foods that aren't high in calories. I want my kids to eat the same food so that I am not in the kitchen all night making different meals. If you have any recipes, please share or just share any favorite recipes you have.

I am a believer of plenty of protein and veggies. And to cut back on the starchy carbs. So if we make a dinner of roast chicken, mashed potatoes, veggies and a salad, we try to leave the mashed potatoes for the kids and we eat the other foods. Anyway...

Here's a recipe we love:
Kale Salad:
Chop the Kale into fine strips (I devein it first)
Cook sliced almonds on a dry frying pan till they get golden brown/roasted (stir often), add to the Kale
Poor on browned butter dressing

Dressing:
Take a couple TBS butter and put into small saucepan on medium heat.
Stir while butter melts. Butter will then bubble up a bunch. Keep stirring. Bubbles will disappear and the butter will turn brownish. It's done! Take it of the heat and mix with a little basalmic vinegar and salt and pepper.

I'd concentrate WAY more on protein over carbs than I would on calories. Mum4ever said it beautifully. You want to be careful eating very much bread and cereal (even whole grain ones), as those raise blood sugar too. Your main goal in trying to lose weight, is to keep your insulin at an even level, which means eating lots of protein (hardly messes with your insulin) and be very careful of all non-veggie carbs. Even if you don't have diabetes, this type of eating will get the weight down. You might find "Fat Head" an interesting documentary to watch. It explains it pretty good - goes through lots of different diets and explains what really causes weight gain/loss. It's quite interesting and funny. You can instant watch it on Netflix. I highly recommend anyone who wants to lose weight watches it.

The best foods for reducing belly fat would be to increase your proteins and vegetables and fiber. Cut out all processed foods, sugars, sweets and bad carbohydrates.

For breakfast eat eggs, turkey bacon, whole grain breads and cereals.
Eat a power lunch.
Have a lighter dinner with lean meats and steamed veggies.
Drink lots of water.
Walk...walk...walk...especially stairs.

We eat a lot of fish, mainly salmon and other white fish. Broiled with sauces with steamed veggies. Or turkey burgers with a salad. Or roasted chicken with side veggies, like corn, peas or broccoli. The leftovers from dinner become my power lunch.
