Severe Acid Reflux- 3 Month Old

Prilosec. Nutramigen. Sleep on a specially designed reflux wedge (we had the Tucker sling and wedge). Hold her upright for at least 45 minutes after every meal.

I know exactly what you are going through! My daughter is 2 now but starting at 2 weeks old she began with the worst acid reflux ever that would make her choke while she slept. It was awful! We took her to a specialist who put her on prilosec and Enfamil A.R (not the powder, the already mixed liquid) and it really worked wonders! We started with solid food at 4 months and it got even better (rice cereal made it worse so we did gerber oatmeal instead). At 6 months it was completely gone she was finally taken off prilosec. She will grow out of it eventually but in the meantime perhaps talk to your doctor about the liquid prilosec and the enfamil A.R (it was a miracle formula in my eyes). My son is allergic to both dairy and soy and we had to use Alimentum formula for him. I was able to use Similac Sensitive with my youngest daughter but had to add oatmeal to every bottle. They were both on 30mgs of Prevacid by the time they were 4 months old.

My little grandson had to be on Nutramigen for over a year, but now he is on rice milk and doing well. The Pediatrician was able to give them free samples. If Nutramigen will work, wouldn't that be better for your baby's health, your peace of mind and less Dr. bills?
Higher cost for some things can mean higher quality and value.......in the long run, spending money on things that don't work can be more expensive.

I had to get WIC to cover the nutramigen. It was honestly the best thing ever for him. Soy formula worked for my niece's AR who was really bad as well. Having a little milk sensitivity can definantly make it worse. (found out at 4.5 months my son was allergic to milk protein) Or some insurance companies do cover it.. he also slept in his swing for 5.5 months till it got better once he was eating more solids.

This sounds just like my son when he was a baby. We tried every formula under the sun and nothing worked. Then we got Nutramigen (when i was buying it it was almost 30 bucks a can, not sure what it is today) and he was on that for over a year (man was it expensive, but it worked). he was also on Prevacid. I would say to try a sample from the doctor and see what happens. The only thing you can do is try it, if it doesn't work then you know, if it does work, then try to apply for WIC, like some mentioned, it really does help out with costs. I was on it, and got like 4 cans a month, but I still needed to buy a couple cans, but It was a huge moneysaver! Good luck! I was worried that my son would always be on medicine, but we are getting ready to turn 4 and haven't been on Prevacid for years!

If you qualify for WIC, you can get a doctor's note and they will provide nutramigen for him.

I know this may sound strange, but a friend of mine took her daughter to the chiropractor and she said it totally worked.
