Hello:

I am about to launch my business as a handwriting specialist tutor using the "Handwriting without Tears" program.

What is the easier, economical and best way to set up a good website?

Also any other methods of advertising I should consider.

What can I do next?

Hi S. - check out meetup.com for "business networking" in your area. I would also see if you can talk to your local elementary schools, montessoris, after school care places, etc. Anywhere there are kids and parents and learning. Tell your friends. Create raving fans. Perhaps give away a free class to someone you know who LOVES to tell friends when they find a service that works for them. Word of mouth networking takes time, but can bring HUGE rewards.

Check out score.org - they are retired business owners that can help you with your business planning.

Feel free to click on my name if you want to chat more. Good luck!

You can set-up a free website on webs.com. They place banner ads on your website to pay for your site. They have templets and all you have to do is fill in the blanks. You can go to google adwords and make sure you have the correct words in there to have it pickied up by search engines. The more pictures and videos you have on your site the faster it will be picked up by google. Also the more people who click on your website the faster it will be found by the search engines. It does you no good to have a website if the search engines can't find you.

Have you bought a domain or are you going to use a site where you just have a extensible name? How many pages do you think you want for a site? I would say you probably only need one page with all the info and links to the program type. I'm not sure you would be selling on the site or just using it for contact info. I used to create websites for a living. If you get confused, shoot me a private message.

You might also add a page to facebook, advertise on here, etc...

The webs.com site doesn't look too bad. I'm not sure what reviews it gets. You might research that. I haven't been too happy with yahoo based on the fact it's windows based and since I got out of the business I now use a Mac. Good luck!

First make sure you have a solid business plan, good CPA and good legal counsel.

I am not familiar with that program. Is it some sort of MLM?

We use Yahoo for our web design. It is a little under $14/month, easy to desgin and work with. Hubby did most of it himself. We are non MLM, we supply raw materials to manufacturers, work from home, have warehousing and trucking set up in w major TX locations.

As far as advertising.... MANY schools have school directories where you can advertise in the directory, offer your services for one of the fundraisers (usually silent auctions, etc), put your business card in any advertising that is reasonable that targets young families and teaching. Our HOA has a website and offers advertising on it as well. NETWORKING is powerful. MANY of our customers have been customers and friends of hubby over 25 yrs since he has been in the business.

Good luck.
