Can anyone reccomend a good OT or Peed. with knowledge of Sensory Issues. My Daughter seems to allways be seeking out to touch something comforting like a plastic cup to hold on to,open palm to glass window or what ever is close by. She also does not like very loud noises, event the tv turned up to loud after a while.I'm not really sure if this is a sensory issue or not. All information is greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

How old is your daughter? There is a clinic in Downers Grove that has some excellent OT's. Milestones for Kids Success. Aimee Baker is the first OT I would recommend though all of them are great. The clinic is run by an OT and is very sensory based. Aimee is SIPT certified(basically a sensory specialist:) Good luck and email me if you have any other questions!

One of the moms at my twin club told me about this benefit. If you get your child tested before he/she is three you can get a free evaluation of his/her speech, physical,OT needs. If there is help needed you pay something like $50 a month no matter how much therapy is needed. It is provided by the state. The therapist can come to your home or you can go to the office. After the child turns three they help to transition your child to the public school in your area. You call Child and Family Connections###-###-####.It's located on Glenwood ave in Joliet. They serve Will,Grundy,&Kankakee counties. Good Luck to you :)

I highly recommend Easter Seals. There is one in Villa Park, and one in Naperville. I worked there as a social work intern while in my Masters program and my experience there was fabulous! I also brought my daughter there for speech therapy, and they did a BEAUTIFUL job with her. They are fantastic with kids. Often, however there is a waiting list but it never hurts to try. You can also go through Child and Family Connections to get her assessed by the state. They'll come out to your house and should you decide to get services through them, they'll have the therapist come to your home.

Good luck to you, there is help out there!
