It is very common! I had the surgery done about 2 years ago and it is so wonderful not to have to worry about leakage. Before the surgery I wore a pantiliner every day just for that reason, but I haven't worn one since about 8 weeks after the surgery!!

I had the bladder lift done the same time as my hysterectomy, but I hear the bladder lift alone is very easy to recover from. You do have to keep from lifting anything heavy for about 6 weeks, but other than that it's pretty easy!

you can talk to your other doctor about it, but you should go see a urologist for treatment.

Good luck!

R.,
Dr. Frankel, a urologist in McKinney, pioneered the outpatient surgery for this problem. I highly recommend him. But do it somewhere else besides the Medical Center in McKinney.
Don't be embarrased, this is very common.

there are also medications that may help. either doctor will do... or or family. go to who you are most comfortable.

Don't be embarrassed, this is a very common problem with more women than not....having children really takes its toll on your bladder, it never really is the same. That being said, it is possible for your bladder to drop and you not really know it....it is a fairly simple procedure to stitch it back in place. You can certainly visit your family doctor but don't be surprised if you get referred to a urologist as that is their specialty.

Lots of ladies have this problem due to age and mult pregnanies. I have a doctor that does a test in his office to see if your going to need surgery or not. Surgery is a out-patient procedure that just takes a few mins. The test in his office is called a CMG and done by the OBGYN. Give Dr. Autrey's office a call to set up a consult. The number is ###-###-#### and the office is located at 75 and Forest lane. Check with your insurance to see if Dr. Autrey is on your plan. The test in his office takes 30 to 45 mins. Good luck!!

I highly recommend a urogynocologist instead of your regular obgyn. A urogynocologist specializes in this type of problem. Dr. Micheal England in Ft. Worth is very good. I was referred to him by another mamasource mom a couple of years ago.

You are not alone. This is a common problem in women who have had vaginal births. My dr warned me of it when I was pregnant and stressed doing my kegels to help. As others have stated, there are several different courses of treatment depending on the severity. I have a good friend that had to have her bladder sewn back in place b/c it had dropped so much after 3 kids, but it was a pretty simple procedure. I would suggest seeing an OB/GYN since they have the most knowledge of a woman's body.
