Two weeks is considered 'etiquette' if you are concerned about someone out of town or someone 'forgetting' then do a 'follow up' call to them, you can also now do 'e-vites' online!
How much notice should you give for invites? 2 weeks, a month? Not sure! My mother will be sending invites for my shower on Sept 18 but when should she? I feel like if we send them first wk of August and that may be too much time and people will forget!

Showers, I go with 3 weeks.
Birthday Parties 2 weeks.
Weddings, 2 months.
Depends on when you need to know about numbers, I think. If you are ordering food, you will need to know in advance of the party how many people. Then give yourself + 1 week from that to get ahold of slackers.
September is busy with the start of school and sport season. If you are inviting a lot of people with school age kids, I would go 4 weeks so they can make proper arrangements if they intend to come. If it's mostly people with older children or no children, I would think 2-3 weeks.
For big parties like that I think right now you verbally need to get word out on what date it will be so people kind of can keep it open. Otherwise I think an email a month before kind of saying "save the date" and then paper invites 2 weeks before. Good luck and congrats!
No more than one month and no less than 2 weeks, IMO. I think 2-3 weeks is ideal.
I would say 2-3 weeks for a shower.
A minimum of 2 weeks. I would say 3 to 4 is best.
I have been receiving "SAVE THE DATE" post cards for the last few years anywhere from one to six months in advance of the date of the event. Personally I think two weeks before a shower and one month to six weeks prior to a wedding, unless there are family and guest coming from long distances.
Blessings......
I usually do 3 weeks to a month ahead.
