Selling Handmade Items Online

I am going to be selling scarves that I've been crocheting as a fundraiser to support a friend for the Susan G. Komen 3-day race. After cost of supplies, all profits will go to the charity.

I used to have an ArtFire shop, but discovered today that they now require you to pay monthly to have a shop :(

What are some alternatives to selling something like this online? I want to keep the cost low to maximize the donation!

Can anyone tell me about eBay options? Etsy?

Or would it work to create a Facebook page for it and then just accept PayPal payments?

I don't know the fees for these options. Are there other options?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I think it's better to have a FB page and accept paypal - making the price higher by a few dollars so that covers the cost of taking payments thru paypal

Totally agree with Pamela. I have known several people who have done that, and it seemed to work very well. I did that myself for my items, although it wasn't from charity. I liked that format much better.

I've bought from Etsy before.
I'm not sure about being a seller there for fees.
eBay requires you to pay either per listing, or a regular fee, as well.

Could you set up your own website, and then use PayPal for payments, instead?
Not sure if that would be cheaper.

You can create a page for free on FB. I manage several for the studio I work for. You do have to pay for advertising if you want to add that option but it's not totally unreasonable. I have not done any advertising through them yet but have not really needed it.

I would recommend you contact your local Vo-Tech and ask about a FB for your business class. It is not that expensive and easy to understand. It really helped me and I am not very computer literate.

Having my own website where I sell art, I can tell you that your own face book page is only going to work for you if you mostly plan on networking through friends. I direct people to my web site through art shows. The people who find me already know about me. If you want to be found by randoms, then you need to get a heck of a search engine going for yourself, or stick with Ebay or Etsy who take care of that for you. If you want to have your own FB page and Paypall account its at least $30/month. I for one get an account and then cancel it after a big show.
