California Baby's Shampoo with Tea Tree Oil worked like a miracle for my little girl. After only 2 shampoos with it it was all cleared up! AMAZING STUFF.
Hi I.,
My son had cradle cap at 10wks old and my mom told me to use Olive Oil...I was like no, I am not basting my son...well the cradle cap got the best of me and out came the bottle of EOO (extra virgin olive oil) along with a baby brush and comb and I sat there and comb/brushed it all out then gave him a nice warm bath and washed his hair with baby shampoo. I was so amazed....it was all gone and I have never had to use it again. It really works! Good Luck!
I'm not sure if this is recommended but it worked for us. I used Head and Shoulders on my daughters head twice and the cradle cap went away. I just bought a small travel size one. I think the biggest issue is to make sure not to get the shampoo in the baby's eyes since it will sting.
not sure if you tried it this way but it worked for both my girls, my oldest had it BAD. Warm olive oil in the microwave (only warm) massage into the scalp and let it sit for 5 mins. Use a baby comb and gently scrap the whole scalp, wiping the nasty stuff on a towel. Comb for at least 5 mins. I did this I think 3 times with the oldest, whenever it looked bad again, and it worked like a charm. Good luck!
a couple drops of selsen blue or tea tree shampoo will do the trick. a word to the wise, oil can make it worse, since the problem stems from oil, not dryness as it looks...
The Mustela foaming shampoo for newborns worked great for us!
We washed him daily with that.
Hi,
Have you ever heard of Arbonne. They have an incredible line of baby products that are pure, safe, and they work. They contain no harmful ingredients, no mineral oil, no nut oils, just incredible botanicals. I can show you some before and after photos if you are interested. You can contact me at ###-###-#### or ____@____.com
I wish you the best of luck.

We have had great luck with Gentle Naturals Cradle Cap care It is a little greasy but does the trick~! You can buy it at Walmart
our pediatrician recommended any dandruff shampoo---just be extra cautious to avoid the eyes. it has worked great for us. we do have to use it about every other to every third bath. good luck!!!
My daughter and son also had cradle cap.....10 month twins. It seemed that nothing was ever a perfect solution other than time. I can still see it under my son's longer hair but it no longer flakes. Just be patient and with time it will get better.
ps congrats on the babies!!!!
Have you tried Aquafor? It worked for us within a day or two. Good luck!
Hello,
Here's what to do, put baby oil and the scalp. Then, let it sit for about 20 min. Next get a facecloth and wipe the scalp in circular motions. It worked like a charm for us and never came back. Good Luck!
I used the Medela brand (at babies r us online) which has a cradle cap shampoo and it worked great on my son. Hope this helps.
i don't know where you live, but when my daughter was little a friend of mine told me to go to an african store and they has some sort of oil, it worked great.
if you can get your hands on Mustela Foam Shampoo, that is the best!!! i tried olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and some other remedies, but the foam shampoo was immediate! and you don't have to use a lot, i think after a week, i didn't need it anymore (sorry, i passed it on already!)
Hi I.,
My boys were born in London and when they had it the midwives there told us to use olive oil( also to put that in their bath water as well), or some tea tree oil. I am a firm believer in the tea tree oil for alot of skin issues! I have used it from mosquito bites to skin infections on my boys and it has truly worked wonders! To me it was a best kept secret from them to mothers! It's all natural to, so if your worried about any of that stuff. Good Luck! Take care.

Mustela makes a foam shampoo for babies that works wonderfully on cradle cap - I think you can get it at babies r us. good luck
My daughter had the same problem and my pediatrician suggested using dandruff shampoo and it seemed to work. Just once or twice a week did the trick for us.

We used plain old dandruff shampoo and were careful (very careful) to not get it into our son's eyes. Our pediatrician was on board with this. The truth is that I'm not sure if it went away because of the shampoo or on its own ... Good luck!
Hi,
Our doctor explained that cradle cap comes from a buildup of too much yeast in your baby's system. That's totally common as many moms who breastfeed have a lot of yeast in their diets or a lot of things that feed yeast (think sugary foods, fruits), and a lot of moms bottlefeed and formula has lots of sugar in it. What we were advised was to put coconut oil on it, and also I was given other remedies to fight yeast which we mix in with it or take internally. Plus, I've cut a lot of sweet stuff out of my diet. Seems to be working great! Good luck with your baby's!
Hi I..
My daughter had cradle cap and, after trying every oil, lotion, brush and comb out there I finally shaved her head (very common in Latin culture) and just peeled the cradle cap right off. It never came back and she grw the most enviable head of hair I have seen! Good luck!
Good Morning
I had this problem with my first son and it got so bad that we took him to our pedia doctor and he gave us an rx cream to use that worked the best..The oil and lotion that you are using might be giving him an allergic reaction and thats why it might be getting worse
Good luck to you

I tried the "natural" stuff for a while too (my 1st daughter had terrible cradle cap). None of it worked--oils, lotions, nothing. With my second child, I actually decided to go to Babies R Us and buy shampoo SPECIFICALLY meant for cradle cap. I forget the brand, but after several shampoos and rubbing firmly with a soft bristled brush, she has not had it anymore, and hasn't even had recurrences.
I'm all for natural when it works, but sometimes, they design stuff specifically with that in mind!
I have been told Olive Oil works great
My ped. recommended an anti-dandruff shampoo like head n'shoulders and it worked like a charm. Just rub directly on the scalp (no need to wet first) and rinse. Our son's cradle cap was gone after the third time we did this. Good luck!
Lie your baby down in the tub on her/his back and use Neutrogena T-gel shampoo on her head. You have to have her lying down because if you get it in her eyes it will sting. My pediatrician told me to use this on my daughter 3 times a week and it worked. I think it works best if you let it sit there for a few minutes before washing it out. good luck!
Hi I.,
I had the same problem w/ my son. It turned out to not be cradle cap but eczema. The doctor suggested putting mineral oil (you can find this at any drug store) on his scalp and then brushing it. Then wash it as usual or just rinse w/ water if you're not giving a bath. This really worked the best for us. I hope this works! Let me know if it does!!

Both my daughters had cradle cap and even with the dandruff shampoo and oil it would come back withing a couple of weeks. I wanted it to go away completely, not just for a short time! A friend of mine started selling Arbonne and I bought the kids/baby kit that came with shampoo, lotion, diaper rash cream and baby oil. I don't know what ingredient is in that stuff that makes it work, but one or two shampoos and oil treatments (used a wash cloth on the head with the oil and just scraped and scraped until it was gone) made it go away for ever for both of them. They looked funny for a few days - it's tough to get the baby oil out, but it was worth it!
Hi,
My pediatrician said to use Selsen Blue (the shampoo) every other day for two weeks during bathtime. Just rub the shampoo on the cradle cap and leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse it off being super careful not to get it into your son's eyes. This worked for my son. Good luck!
