Hey S.-
I'm doing something similar to you; I have 2 girls, age 3 & 1 and I work 3 days a week at Fairfax Hospital (just barely full time but full time to them) I stayed home for 9 months after I had Fiona, my 3 year old and quit my job. I'm one of those people who HAS to have adult interaction and I do much better with 'work' and kids.
While I was still pregnant with Fiona I found MOPS: Mothers of Pre-Schoolers. It is a faith based Moms group sponsored out of local churches and I really like the way it is set up; they have 'moms night' out events: coffee at Starbucks, play dates at homes in the area, events out of the house like pottery painting, trips to local petting farms, 'tours' of Pet Smart in Springfield and then 'picnic' lunch across the street at Mall the food court.
I attend the MOPS group at Immanuel Bible Church which is at the intersection of Backlick and Braddock Road - right on the border of North Springfield and Annandale. The next meeting is on the 14th of April at 7pm. It is a great resource for moms and one of the few times I MAKE time to attend the meeting.
I'd be happy to 'sponsor' you if you'd like to attend the next meeting.
