Our 4 yo used to really fight us with brushing his teeth, but the past few months he has been so much better. Our 3 yo has always been good with letting us brush his teeth. They brush their teeth at least twice a day, use a flouride rinse, and floss occasionally. Our 4 yo needs lots of dental work due to numerous cavities. We have known this for the last 6 months or so, but the cost is really worrisome. We just went to the dentist again a couple weeks ago & both of them need to have IVs for all of their dental work. It didn't surprise us about our 4yo, but did about our 3 yo. Well, yesterday the office that schedules these appointments called and stated that after the minimal amount that our insurance would cover, it would be $4700 out of pocket (with no payment plan) for our 4 yo and $4000 for our 3yo. Can you say OUCH! I want a 2nd opinion and something alot more cost efficient, but be able to take care of our sons too.
*My 4yo is in a little pain when we brush his teeth, but that is it. On an every day basis they can eat and drink anything and they show no signs of thei teeth bothering them. No headaches either.

I take my 3 daughters (11, 7 and 1) to Kid's Dental Care in Chandler. They are at the 101 and Ray Road. The staff is excellent and my kids love going there.
My sister works for a female dentist who is a mother and very good with children. However, they do not sedate children. If you want to see her for a second opinion, her name is Dr, Kathy Jacobson and her number is ###-###-#### and she is at Gilbert and Guadalupe.
When my daugther was 4 we were told she had 6 cavities! We were given an estimate for $2,000!!! We waited for 6 months and then switched to Dr. Quackenbush. He only found 1 cavitiy that needed to be filled. We have been going there ever since and are very happy. He does not "overtreat" and is great with the kids. The office is decorated like a big bear tree house!! Good Luck!!

I am not sure about their prices on major dental work, but we love Dr. Quackenbush.
We LOVE Dr. David Rush. We go to his Ahwatukee office, but he also has one in Gilbert. You should be able to google him. His Ahw. staff is great! They hygienists are so gentle and patient, and so is he. He has a wonderful technique to make needles in the gum painless. We've been seeing him since '92. They accept most major dental insurances and they have a payment plan, although it is done by a 3rd party finance company, so it's O.A.C. I can't say enough good things about his chairside manner, along with his staff's. The worse is when he makes you laugh under the influence of laughing gas, and you can't stop. My kids love him, too. The Ahw. # is ###-###-####. 51st. St. just S. of Elliott.
He's not cheap, but he is reasonable and well worth it. Be sure to get in the employer's Health Savings Account this next year, if you have one available to you. You get to make pretax contributions to it, saving $, then can usually pay for your Dr. appts' copays and deductibles via a special debit card. Also, once you commit to the funds coming out each check into the plan, you can pre-use the money, so even if you don't have $1k in the plan, you can use $1K in February, even though $1K won't accumulate in the plan until June. I believe you can put up to $3K in the plan, but you have to be sure to see what you can budget. You can use the plan for many health costs, including Tylenol or contact solution. The downside is that you should ensure you don't commit to more than you will spend, because if you don't use it by year's end, you lose it. It really does help, though, being that it lowers your taxable income!
