"Seeking Remedy for Seven Year Old Who Has Underarm Odor"

I have recently noticed that my other-wise healthy, active seven year old boy has developed body odor. I noticed it the other night after he had showered (I know he scrubbed his underarms- it's one of the places he spends a lot of time scrubbing!) that he had developed body odor after about an hour(he was running around a bit). I think he is pretty young for anti-perspirant- has anyone else had this experience? Has anyone heard of a "kid deoderant"? I am open to just about anything, but would like to avoid chemicals if possible.

What can I do next?

I'm thinking what goes in the body must come out. Try adding more water to the youngster's diet instead of masking the odor with deoderant. If that doesn't help what about some powder?

You can get salt crystals at the health food store. It is a natural doederant, you wet it and apply. I used it for years.
you can also solve foot odor with them and store pieces in shoes to take the smell away.

I use.......... now this is going to sound funny:) but it is called funk butter.............. made out of shea butter and other natural ingredients. It is great!!!!!!!!! Works amazing and goes on more like a cream. you can order it from oyinhandmade.com
love T. stuff!!!!!!!!!
FYI
I just ordered some and when I got them they were really oily because of T. hot weather but I just washed T. tin that it comes in in soapy water and it works great. You will love it. T. only natural deodorant that works:)

HI,

I always recommend Nicole Stone at Remember to Breathe Center (in Point Loma). She specializes in pediatrics and can give you lots of insight and healthy ways to remedy the situation.

Her website is http://www.remembertobreathecenter.com if you'd like contact details. She helped us tremendously w/ our baby's colic.

Good luck!

I don't know what to say for no chemicals cause kids/teens have stronger oder and need something strong. My daughter used teen deo at this age. She developed early, had body oder we had no prob with the deo. My younger sons friends use AXE and my son started using Old spice anti/deo when he was nine or ten just like dad. No probs and smells good. Your son might be a heavy sweater and will need deo. My daughter still sweats heavy. You don;t want him to smell bad around others. If you can smell him so can everybody. I think the no chemical stuff works best for people who sweat light and have light to no oder. D. G.
