I have a four year old boy and I am desparate for a babysitter. We moved to our new home a year ago and I don't know any families in the area nor do I know any teenagers. My husband and I haven't been out in months and we're both frustrated. Any suggestions?

My name is K.. I am new to the area also. My husband and I live near Edgewood and MLK. We also are looking for babysitters. Where we came from we had another couple that we would trade date nights with. It worked out very well. Once a month we were guaranteed a date night and we could actually afford to do something because we traded sitting. I live near Mt Hope/MLK and I have a great college girl that watches my son once a week. She is looking for more hours babysitting--I usually refer her to my friends only, so I'd like to meet you first before I sent her over. :)
MSU's Family Resource Center keeps a list of babysitters at http://www.frc.msu.edu/babysitters.htm. They conduct criminal background checks on all sitters, but of course it is up to you to do interviews and make sure that they have the same ideas as you in regards to what makes a good babysitter. We got sitters off that list when we first moved to town and it worked well.
I usually use one of my teenage nieces or my son. They have all taken a babysitting class. They are great with kids. Let me know if you want to get a hold of them. The girls live near cedar and holmes. And I live near Mt Hope and Auriles.
