Seeking Recommendations on Medical Id Bracelets

My son is diabetic and 5 years old. We've had the stainless steel medic alert bracelet for several years now. I have not been happy with the way it has worn. I'm looking to replace it and wanted to know what companies others use for their children's medical id bracelets. We are on a limited budget. Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

Hi
I purchased a medical alert bracelet for my daughter through a company on-line. The company sells cute ones that are geared towards childrens interests. She has a nice selection including cartoon characters, etc. Her website is www.petitebaublesboutique.com. Hope you find something that you like!

I went through the Medical alert website about two years ago. We bought the bracelet, which he wouldn't wear. Since my son has had medical issues since he was a year old, I then tried the shoe tag from the same webstite.
It is a stainless steel slide that goes on the bottom of his shoe lace. It has lasted for a few years now and my son doesn't even know it exsists.
I think it is a great back up even if my son wears a bracelet in the future.
Best wishes

After doing a google search for "medical id bracelets kids" I found this web site, which give a variety of options for ID med alert items.
http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.com/d_06_700.htm
If the link doesn't work just go to www.childrenwithdiabetes.com and in the menu on the left side click "Products" under the "Clinic" heading, then click "Medical idenitfication products" under the "Non-Medical Products" heading. There you will see many links for different kid-friendly products, some ID bracelets as low as $10.
Hope this helps, good luck with everything.

Titanium is a very durable metal for daily wear. I did a quick search for "titanium medical alert bracelets" and a lot of websites selling these popped up. Hope that helps!

Doreen,

My 4 yr old daughter is also diabetic. When she was diagnosed two years ago, I found a website that offered a free necklace. It has lasted me this long and is still in good shape. The website is http://www.diabeteswellness.net/wellness/default.asp. I don't know if your son will wear a necklace or not but thought I would recommend it. Good luck. I also know how tough it is to have a little one with diabetes. If you ever need to talk or have any questions, feel free to email me. Take care.
