I would suggest Walmart as well, there albums are "clean" of swear words etc. I really like TI's new album Paper Trail and Kanye West has a new cd as well.
Hi, last minute shopping, my brother got my son a radio/cd system thing for his room (I would call it a boombox, not sure if they still do!)
My son is into rap, and I know of AKON, does anyone else with kids ages 8-12 know of some CD's that I can buy the clean version of that they bought for their kids...
Im more of a classic rock kinda girl! Thanks for your help!
Thank you! Walmart was great! I totally forgot about Chamillionare! Darn it! Well that can be on my list for good behaviour!
Thank you! I had no idea Walmart sold the clean stuff, lol! Merry Christmas to all!

Hi L.,
Wal-mart has a rap section of CDs and they only sell clean versions. Hope that helps. :o)
T.
There is a Christian rapper who really speaks well to kids called KJ52. Good positive messages to the songs. Good luck and Merry Christmas!
Will Smith is not only an actor but he has some rap CDs out. All of his CDs are clean. Those are the ones that I bought my son when he was around that age and wanted CDs. He is now 10 and has an IPod so I just download the clean version of all the songs that he likes from other artists.
I also searched and found Chamillionaire's 'Ultimate Victory' is cuss word free and "N" word free. The website even said Sean Kingston was rated PG.

On another site it did say that Will Smith's latest CD was not as clean as all his other ones. Young MC is a good one too and they say he is clean.

On Yahoo Answers they say that Tone Loc is clean as well.
Good luck with your quest. I hope this helps you out.

I am not sure if this is still true or not but when I was younger I bought CDs from Wal Mart and they automatically had the "bad" words deleted. They sounded like the songs on the radio, you know how they like change the words or delete them!? Hope this is helpful!
walmart and also try the kids bop CDs the take all of the #1 hits and remake them to be kid frendly. my girls like them.
I would check Walmart I think that they have a DVD player that edits out the inappropriate stuff they might have a cd player that does too.
Back in the day...im 40..so it feels like forever ago..LL Cool J was one of the few clean rappers. I am not sure if he still is. Also I do know that my son wont buy CDs at walmart because they tend to have the bad words bleeped out. I am not sure what they do with rap. I do suggest maybe going to Borders or Barnes n Noble and ask one the the sales people in the music dept on what they feel is a good rapper.
Happy Holidays

Hi--I haven't read all the responses so someone may have already suggested this. I would go to Bible's Plus or some other Christian book store and ask for Christian rappers. You will be able to listen to the songs before you buy. A couple I know of that my kids like: KJ52, Toby Mac...there are tons out there. My son is now into the "screamer" music and they have a lot of clean Christian ones for that as well. Good luck!
Go to a Christian book store. They have good clen rap music and the have a conversion chart. If your child likes Snoop they will help you find the comparison.
If you buy them at Wal-Mart they are mostly all of the clean versions. :) It will tell you on the wrapper.
There is T.I he is really popular right now. the new cd that has "you can have whatever you like"
it features a lot of good people; like Justin Timberlake and Rihanna.
Did you check WalMart? They typically have the edited version of just about anything.
Hello,
I was made aware of this today...all Walmart's music is edited. Hope this helps you :) Happy Holidays!
I see you got a lot of responses and have found some solutions. Just wanted to point out what no one else said. As a musician myself, I think you should open a dialogue with your child about lyrics, why some artists choose to use certain words over others. It's a good chance to talk about the meaning of words too because movies, TV, the internet and other things have "unclean" language that your child may be exposed to. Eventually your child will be exposed to this type of language and by telling your child how you feel about it and discussing the possibilities associated with creating music and writing lyrics, they will be better prepared when making their own musical choices. I had no idea that Walmart sold edited versions of music. As an artist, I would not want my music edited without my permission, but maybe the artists give permission when agreeing to sell there.
Just a thought...
Wll I am not big on rap either but I do know that if you buy them at walmart or target you will get the versions with the bad stuff blanked out if you buy at like best buy you will get the full version.
I just went to Amazon and searched for Christian Rap, and there were several people who popped up. You can even listen to excerpts from the cd online.
