There is a free preschool for 4 year olds through the public schools. It's full day unless she needs the ECSE program. My stepson has been in the special ed preschools in Suffolk and Portsmouth, and stay FAR away from Portsmouth. Suffolk starts special ed at 24 months. Can't give you any advise on private schools. You might call fleet and family services or checkout the Child Development Center at Portsmouth Naval.

I am not sure if you are set on wanting a preschool but I do highly recommend the Suffolk YMCA program. My two sons go there and it is great. They have great activities and If you join the family as a member of the YMCA ($75.00 a month) then your whole family can use all the facilities in the YMCA. They have great programs for kids like parents night out. They have family night where the family goes there for games or movies. They also have adult activities such as Weight Watchers, Aerobics, Yoga, ect. We moved to Suffolk September of last year and I have been very happy with the YMCA. And my kids love it. Their number is ###-###-#### and the main lady in Child Care is Tina. She is very nice tell her M. sent you.

Hello, my name is K. and we are somewhat new to the area as well.
We live in Smithfield now but we were in Suffolk for 15 months. My daughter Kayla went to Saint Andrews preschool in Suffolk and she really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it. They might still have some openings for next fall if you call soon. Another excellent private program that my son is probably going to attend is Smithfield Baptist. That may be a little far for you depending on where you are located. Anyway, I know how hard it is to try and settle in so if you need any help let me know. I stay at home with my two kids as well. We are still trying to get to know people and places in the area. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
