I have never heard of one that pierces a little girls ears if the thing the would tell you to wait unit she is much older they was a study done about a year or two ago that was on the news about that. In any case good luck

You don't need a pediatrician for that. I had my daughter's done at Claire's. Make sure that they use the sterile gold studs with the sharp points and the smallest gauge. However, I did wait until she was 2 years old. Not that she could make any decisions at this age, but she was really excited and was able to hold still. She did not cry and it did not seem to hurt her. I did change the earrings a few weeks later because the point on the originals started to scratch her. Otherwise, it was all a great experience.

A year is a strange age for that, she may pull on it as it will hurt for a few days. I did my daughters much younger and she did her daughters when they were much older, lol. In any case please use posts first and not loops as they will be much safer and remember to turn them each day and use alcohol.
