Does anyone know of a Pediatrician in the Katy/West Houston area who is, somewhat, if not entirely more holistic in their approach to dealing with infants and children? Any recommendations would be most appreciated!

My child's pediatrician is Dr. Helen-Marie Haney of Texas Children's peadiatric Associates at Cinco Ranch - 28139129696. Don't just take my words for it, look her up! She is awesome. My child was born very prematurely and so we really needed to be careful whom we chose and she has been so wonderful with my child to say the least.

I don't vaccinate my children, so I have been unable to find a pediatrician who will even see my children. I have, however, found a wonderful doctor who is a family doctor. His name is Dr. Gilbert Manso. Check him out at www.drmanso.com. He is totally holistic. He doesn't think I am crazy or neglectful to not vaccinate (there have been issues in my family w/ vaccinations and reactions to them). When my children are ill, he gives me changes to make to their diets, gives me homeopathic remedies, herbal supplements, or nutritional supplements, and does not force antibiotics on me. (He would give them to me if I wanted them, but I prefer to try other solutions first, and have never ever needed an antibiotic for my 2 year old, and not for my 5 year old for the past 2 1/2 years since we started seeing Dr. Manso.) I cannot say enough wonderful things about him and his practice. My children absolutely adore him, too!

The other doctor we see is Dr. Andy Vorster, N.D. at Natural Health Associates. She is a naturopathic doctor and we have had wonderful luck with her. My children love her, too! She has helped my 2 year old to overcome SEVERE food allergies, and my 5 year old to get off daily asthma medications and occassional breathing treatments. He has been asthma-medication free for 2 years with absolutely no issues!!! (In the past, every cold he had turned into breathing treatments.) She identified the allergies causing the asthma, eliminated them, and treats w/nutrition and homeopathy. Naturopaths are considered "alternative medicine", so if that turns you off, you would probably be more comfortable with Dr. Manso. I personally like the combination of the two. I use Dr. Vorster 99% of the time, and use Dr. Manso when I need documentation for school and then on one occassion when both of my boys had bronchitis (yes, they stayed antibiotic-free through that, and healed within one week!). So, we've only seen Dr. Manso 3 times, but I was very impressed, and my mother has been going to him for 20+ years. By the way, Dr. Vorster has a waiting list to get in to see her, and right now it's approximately a one year wait time, so if you are interested in seeing her, get on the list right away! Her # is ###-###-####. She does not have a website to check out. I have never waited more than 5 minutes past my appointment time for either of these 2 doctors. They both spend an hour with you on your first visit!!

my ped. is Dr. Kristen Lentsch. She owns CINCO RANCH PEDIATRICS. If you are familiar w/ the katy/cinco area she is located on Mason Rd. between Cinco Ranch Blvd. and West. Parkway. She has a website cincoranchpediatrics.yourmd.com
I don't know how holisitc she is but from experience she prefers over the counter meds than prescription meds when needed . She will not give an antiobiotc if not needed. She also will not give a medicine if the FDA has found that it might possibly harm a child when they are older.(my son has been on Singular for 5 years and she took him off of it b/c there have been some reported side effects of depression. She said that "in good faith" that she can't prescribe it any more.)
Every time I need an appt. they have one.
They also have a nurse practioner on staff,Helen, who is just as great as Dr. Lentsch.
Just FYI-
I think I have used the Drs. that the previous poster used(ifthat practice is located in Chritus Hosp.than I have).
I had a 2 hour wait in the packed. loud waiting room.It was a horrible time being a patient there.
They are always busy, behind schedule ,and one time when my son was sick ,they couldn't see him for 3 days. (not something you want w/ a child who has asthma.)
Good luck. Feel fee to send a message if you have any questions.
