My husband and I are searching for a pediatrician for our twins. We live in Naperville and would like a practice nearby. We are delivering at Edward's and therefore would like the doctor to be associated with Edward's. We are looking for the following: experience with twins/preemies, smaller practice, flexible with immunizations, someone who won't make us feel rushed if we have questions, and easy to make appointments. We plan to set up meet and greets, but have no idea where to even begin. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Apple a day peds in Oswego with Dr.Webb and Dr. Lo. They are affiliated with Edwards and Rush Copley. They are fabulous. I take my 3 kids there and have known them for years. Plus I work there as a RN and have for 3 years or so. Good luck.

We also use Dr. Reicherts and have been extremely happy there. My friend who just had twin boys uses them as well. One of her boys has had some digestion problems and Dr. Reicherts has been very attentive.

Hi N.,
I have been going to Dr. Janina Badowska for 8 years.
Her husband and associates down the hall are also my
ob-gyne's. Her phone # is 630/369-1717. She is the
only doctor, she only has 1 f/t nurse and 1 p/t nurse
and they have all been working with her for several years.
I have 3 kids...8, 5 and 3. She is absolutely wonderful
and always get me in the same day no matter what.
Just to let you know, she has a polish accent but you
will get used to it. Any questions, please feel free to ask. She is located @ 10 W. Martin Ave. and her own daughter has twin girls that are around 9 yrs old. She
also knows many specialist and has great connections with them.
Thanks,
S.

I am currently expecting a singleton in late August (will deliver at Edward) and I've decided on ABC Pediatrics. I met with two of the docs there and was very impressed with the practice. I've already called the nurse line to ask questions and I haven't even delivered yet! You will have the ability to meet with any of the docs that interest you - check out their bios on the website. Dr Gus is the only one who is not accepting new patients. Good luck!

Hi N.,

Our pediatrician is wonderful! I would highly recommend her. The practice is ABC Pediatrics on Rickert Drive (at 75th Street) in Naperville- they have a website. Our doctor is Dr. Persak. I'm not sure about the specifics you mentioned- twins, flexibility with immun., but the practice is affiliated with Edwards and we never feel rushed and I always have questions! Our doctor is also very proactive and really checks up on us, too. She has great suggestions for us each time, too. I love the monthly info sheets we get as our baby grows so we know what to expect. We did a meet and greet before our son was born and were really impressed with all the info they gave us. They really made us feel ready. The practice is on the small side, which I like, and making appts. is always easy. My son is only 8 months, but we've had good experiences there so far.

Good luck! And congratulations! By the way, my OB/GYN recommended this doctor (and my OB was at Good Sam- that's how much faith she had in this practice!)- so I would also suggest you ask your OB, too. It'll give you another place to start perhaps.

Also- since another mom recommended this doctor too and said that they see different dr's for each well visit, I thought I'd mention we've always seen our primary doctor- again, just for these 8 months. Just thought I'd mention it. I like that we see the same person so far- at least this first year.

Out of all the pediatricians Edwards could have recommended to us, the only name that came up was Dr. Reicherts. He's located at 4043 S. Rt 59, Naperville, IL 60564. Their number is ###-###-####. He has several doctors in his office and you can pick and choose who you want to see. We've never felt rushed and have had only one somewhat negative experience with Amy (CFNP). Since that day, I've decided not to make any appointments with her personally anymore. The office staff respects our wishes as well. I know one other mom who happens to see Dr. Reicherts and staff and she also said she refuses to make appointments with Amy - but wouldn't ever consider changing practices just because of her (which is my feeling as well).

I use Naperville Pediatrics. They are right by Edward Hospital and I find them to be very patient and will answer questions without rushing you. There are three physicians in the practice, two men and a woman. You can request which one you see (they are all good), there is a well room and a sick room (I love that) And they are easy to get into. The number is ###-###-####. Dr. Rubin is the one we have seen a lot. I have a 15 year old and a 6 year old that use this practice. When I interviewed, I found myself the most comfortable with them If you have a question, the doctor is the one that returns your call, not a nurse. They are great about weekend calls as well. They were awesome when my youngest was born (oldest born in another state), i was high risk and she was born 3 weeks early and they were awesome about checking her out. Good nursing staff as well.

ABC Pediatrics. We have been with them since the birth of my first child 5 years ago. They are a small practice with 5 doctors. Once you pick your primary doctor you see them for all your scheduled well visits. We have never had trouble getting in for a sick visit the same day. They will try to get you in with your primary doctor first but if you want a time they don't have available or it happens to be their day off(they rotate Saturdays and at the hospital) they will get you in with another doctor. They have a phone nurse who you can call into with any type of question(Really! We once called when my son was an infant bc we were disagreeing over what kind of humidifier we were supposed to get). I've never felt rushed during any appointment well or sick. I obviously don't know their experience w/twins or preemies but you could definately ask that. We did our immunizations on schedule so you would have to ask about that as well. Dr. Law is our primary doctor but I have met all the doctors and liked them all. Their website is www.abcpediatrics.net. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions! Best of luck~

We love, love, love Dr. Kudchadker with Naperville Pediatrics. The other two docs are great also. He is on Martin Ave right next to the hospital. The nurses are stellar! This practice is open late in the day, Saturdays and they will see sick little ones on Sundays! We have been through everything you can imagine with Dr. K including, ingrown earing back, ruptured appendix, broken foot, 105 fever, ADHD, and all the normal everyday immunizations and exams. His gentle demeanor and light hearted way put us at ease the moment we met him.

Congrations on your twins! It will be an exciting and rewarding time for you. My own boy/girl twins just turned 3. I actually use my family practice physician for pediatric care and that works well for us. However, if you are looking for a pediatrician who meets all of your criteria, I would highly recommend interviewing Dr. Jim Pera. He is in the same practice as Dr. Reicherts. Dr. Pera not only has experience with twins/preemies...he is the father of twins - what better experience could you possibly ask for? Several members of our twins club (Will Co. Mothers of Twins) use him for their children's health care and none have ever had anything bad to say - in fact, every time we have a member who asks for pediatric referrals, his is the name that is mentioned dozens of times. Many of our club members have even switched to Dr. Pera because of the great experiences others have had. He has also been a guest speaker at our twins club meetings on more than one occasion and the room is filled on these nights. He not only is informative, but he is also down-to-earth and very personable. Like I said, I am happy with our family practice physician, but if I am ever in a position where I feel I need to change, Dr. Pera would be my only choice. His number is ###-###-####.

Best of luck with everything!

N.,

My husband and I live in Lisle and have boy/girl twins that turned nine this past March. I deliverd at Edward's and my kids spent 1-2 weeks in the NICU there.

We also planned on having meet and greets for a pediatrician but when I delivered six and a half weeks early we had only interviewed one practice. We decided to go ahead with that set of doctors and have never regreted that decision.

The kids go to Midwest Pediatrics on Ogden AVe. in Naperville (they also have a Lombard office). They have several doctors and our kids have seen them all and are just as comfortable with each of them. When my daughter was one week old and we took her in for her first check-up, she stopped breathing twice while the doctor was examining her. The doctor, nurses and staff all handle this emergency very professionally yet didn't forget about the emotions that we were feeeling. An ambulance was called and the head nurse, Nurse Nan, came into the exam room and never left my side until I got into the ambulance with my daughter. She is wonderful. These are our only children and she has never made me feel that any of my questions are silly. I always feel comfortable calling her and asking "should I worry about ....?".

I have always been able to get an appointment the same day or the next. You can choose which doctor you want to see but like I said, my kids and I are comfortable with each of them. Once my son fell off the porch stairs and hit his head on the concrete pavers. I called Nan and she had me bring him in immediately. When we got to the office, we went right back to see a doctor. No waiting!!

I can not say enough wonderful things about this practice, doctors, nurses and staff. They are the best, in my opinion.

Good luck in your search!

I don't know if they have privileges at Edwards, but Wheaton Pediatrics has some great doctors and two (maybe three) of them have twins themselves!

Hi N. -
I do not have twins, but, had a preemie (31 wks) and started out with Naperville Peds, but, switched to ABC and am VERY, VERY happy with them! We see Dr. Persak and I agree that she is great with giving you the time you need for questions, etc. You never feel rushed, the nurses are also great and take all the time you need. Being a first time mom, this is soooooo helpful! Good luck with your search.

Both my girls see the doctors at Children's Health Partners (www.childrenshealthpartners.com). There are 6 doctors in the group and we have seen all of them. You can schedule with the same doctor, but I like the variety and figure another set of eyes are always good... :) Good luck with your search!
