We've recently moved to the NE Heights, fairly new to ABQ. I've tried a couple of moms groups and find them a bit overwhelming. I'm not interested in twenty toddlers running wild while moms try to find a quiet corner to chat in. I don't know where to find the moms. Does anyone have time to make new friends??
I'm looking for a mom or two to meet at parks or in home for small playgroups and mom interaction.
My daughter and I love to go to parks. She is 4. We used to live in the heights but we just recently moved. Let me know if anything gets started.

I also live in the NE heights, near Wyoming and Osuna, and we just moved in last week! I'm not quite ready for playdates at our house (perhaps in another week when we get some furniture) but I would love to get together sometime. I have two boys, a 3 1/2 year old and an 8 month old. I'm a SAHM for now too (will start working at home a few hours a week soon).

I always liked going to the local Barnes and Noble my children could look through the kid section and I could grab an mag or something and sit in there with them while they looked then we would go to the coffee bar if they behaved well and we would get them a snack and I a coffee there were always people to sit and chat with. I still do that from time to time although I do not have to watch them any more as one is eighteen the othe fifteen, but we still enjoy sitting weekly if we can and chatting with eachother and other people too. As I have older children I can't assist you on the play date type of think, but head to the local book stores B&N even have story time so it give you a little ten minute break to get a book or such, you will probably meet some nice educated parents that way.

I am new to this website and I saw your posting and even thought you posted in March, I wanted to respond. I moved to Rio Rancho from New England before my 1 year old son was born. I have had the hardest time meeting people in my age group ( I am 30) with kids. I also looked into playgroups, but large groups of people are definitely not my thing! I know my son is a bit younger than your oldest son, but I would be interested in meeting sometime. I know what you mean about play groups... They don't seem very personal sometimes. I would love to meet for a play date, but I live on the other side of town. I'm on the west side, but I'm sure we could meet halfway or do a zoo date. I have a pass to the zoo for me and a guest. I am 27 and I also have two sons- ages 2 years and the other is 9 months. I'm in school for the next 6 weeks, so sometimes planning extra things is hard, but I'm sure we could work something out! My cousin and I always have a play date on Wednesdays. Her son is two and her daughter is 5 months. Maybe our boys would love to play together! Let me know.
