Seeking Opinions on Rose-Tree Media School District & Media Area

My husband and I are considering a move to Media. I'm interested in what others think of the Rose-Tree Media schools, and also the Media area in general, in terms of raising a young family. My kids are five and seven years old. We currently live in West Chester and attend Downingtown schools. There are alot of great family activities where we are now, great sports programs, parks, etc. Any insight you can provide is appreciated! Thank you.

Hi J.,

LOVE Media. I lived here until two years ago but still work here everyday. The schools, parks, festivals, tot lot, community center and playroom, library, shops, restaurants are all great! Media is a real "walking" town. Like there are sidewalks everywhere and people get to know you here. We have a Trader Joe's and trolley to the city too. It's America's First Fair Trade Town and on the list of Tree Cities USA. Check out this video made by Rich Hoffmann, a local business owner and resident. He was trying to win some money for the town in an Ikea sponsored make-over contest. I believe we wound up in the top three in the nation but didn't end up winning the big prize. http://www.coyopa.com/WMV/media_pa.wmv Media rocks!

Welcome to Everybody's Hometown!

Hey Jen,
My best friend taught at Rose Tree and the school as well as the high school are great! I think you will be just as pleased with the media school district as you have been with the downingtown. The media area is great and the town is a little like west chester. I feel that the area can be a little bit more congested then downingtown but that is just a personal opinion.

I was raised in Media and went to St. Mary Magdalen. I'm hoping to move back *very* soon! We're in Springfield now. Ridley Creek Park is great, and there is a ton of stuff to do in Del Co and you're closer to Philly if you want to do something in the city. Media is a great little town that is a lot like WC, they are both county seats, so I guess that's why.

Anyway, can't say enough good things about my old stomping grounds! Good luck!

Hello J.,
I am a Realtor in Delaware County and I come across this question often for all of the area school districts. I always tell people to check out the following website for better insight.

www.schoolmatters.com

What is important to one person may not be to another. This website also allows you to compare districts. Best of luck with your decision and if I can be of any further help please let me know.

Hi J.! I lived in Media before I had children but the town is lovely! There are many wonderful stores and restaurants. Not as many parks as chester county, but Ridley Creek State Park is there, and there is a large park wiht a play ground right in town. I don't know much about the school district.

Two of my nephews and a niece attended elementary school in this district. Its an excellent district and I think you'd be pleased.
