Hi. Does anyone have a good referral for a naturopath or holistic practitioner for a 4-yr old with severe eczema? My daughter's eczema is getting progressively worse. She itches practically non-stop throughout the day and night. She is literally scratching her skin off (on the backs on her legs, armpits, front arms, inner legs and not it's spreading to her neck!) I've tried about everything I can thing of. She's been evaluated by a GI specialist (tested negative to everything except elevated IGE - - which is an indication of "an allergen in her system".) She is negative for celiac disease, no sensitivity to gluten. I've taken her to an allergist (she was nonreactive to everything they screened for (all of the most common allergens, and then some) and she's had numerous visits to the dermatogolist. They all keep telling me it's eczema, but haven't been able to provide any solution that lasting results. We go through tubes and tubes of hydrocortisone per week, aquaphor is applied by the globs, pure water baths, triple rinse on the laundry too. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

homeopathy! my son developed eczema at about same age. he was finally free of it by the time he was ~5.5 - after only one visit! and to think of all the things that we did before that! - we never did conventional "therapy" - hydrocortisone or any other steroids, but have tried a lot of food and water tricks and eczema would always come back. here is how to find the good one close to you:
http://www.homeopathy.org/directory.html
since this is constitutional treatment - ask - they'll explain how it is different from acute - i would not go to MD, OD, chiro or even ND who does not have all their practice set up around homeopathy and use it "on the side". just pick the one who has letters CCH (certifiedclassical homeopath)after the last name. if you are in the greater LA/Long Beach area i can e-mail you info on the one that i've used.
Good Luck
V.

This may sound crazy, but it sounds like you may listen to anything at this point!
I work with a naturopath MD and what we have seen work very well is Juice Plus. It is in gummie form for your 4 year old and it is just fruits and veggies. Eczema is known as an autoimmune disease and what is needed is antioxidants, which are in fruits and veggies. I have a friend who had terrible skin issues and she swears by Juice Plus. If you want to check it out, go to www.karen4betterhealth.com

Good luck!

Dear F.,

I can't even imagine what your baby girl must be going through. I've developed eczema in the past month and I went to see Dr. Goodlerner in Torrance. I found she is compassionate, caring and very knowledgeable. Pasted below is her website and I'm sorry that I can't be of more help.

Good luck.

Hi F.,

Have you tried taking her off all dairy? It can cause bad eczema.

HI F.,

my son developed severe eczema when he was only two months old. He is now 15 months and teh eczema is almost completely gone. He is much better because after round the clock research, i found a practitioner of NAET. This process identifies what the root cause is of the eczema (typically sensitivities and/or allergies to various food, mineral, vitamins, etc.).
The practitioner i see is an MD who changed her entire practice to alternative medicine after 15 years (her contact info is on her website, www.doctorvan.org). BUT, she is in PAcific Palisades. However the "inventor" of teh NAET process is in ANaheim, i believe. You can learn about the process and do a search for practitioners on the website, www.naet.com
One thing i have learned is that nothing topical will ever help teh eczema. If skin improves from any topical it is only keeping the toxins inside the body. What i have found that HELPS during outbreaks is keeping the skin moisturized - my practitioner recommended unrefined shea butter -- it is hard, not soft, but it truly moisturizes. Buy only unscented, fragrance free. I found a great one at whole foods.
hope some of what i have shared is helpful.

Hi F., I tried a great lotion called Renew for my son's dry patches on the backs of his legs and inner thighs and it went away completely. I also converted my house to organic cleaners and products and that helped us alot. I'd love to share with you about the Wellness company I shop from. You can go to my website to find out a bit more at www.helpingfamilies.com and hit "Get More Info" or call me at ###-###-####. Take care, E.

my son had mild eczema and everyone kept pointing towards foods as allergens turns out he was allergic to polyester. I would see about switching to all cotton clothes and see if that helps. sorry if I'm not much help but it was just a thought.

Hi. Try centerforhealinglife.com. It's Dr. Khelly Webb. She's in LB. You should be able to get her # off of the site. If you haven't yet, try copious amounts of calendula cream and gel. You can find @ Whole Foods. And.... i've heard that evening primrose by mouth can make a big difference. I'll bet Dr,. Webb can help you. She's fantastic. I wish you the best of luck it sounds like an awful ordeal for you both.

If you see her can you let me know how it goes??? I'll be curious.

Take care.

Christie
