Does anyone use any natural cleaning products in their home (such as hard wood floor cleaner, products to clean counters, etc). Due to potential chemicals I worry about my little one crawling on the floor after I have cleaned it....thanks.

I use Melaleuca products. All natural, envirnonmentally-safe, toxin-free. They have over 400 products for personal care, nutritionals, cleaning and skin care & cosmetics. Best part is the products are cheaper than commercial brands.

I bought a new home in June and decided to use Melaleuca's products to clean with. One of the reasons I did this is because of migraines I suffered from since I was 19 years old. I can honestly say that since I've moved in, I have not had one migraine. I also have children - one with ADHD. The safety of the products we use in our home is so important. Chemicals are linked to not only children's deaths but ADD, ADHD, cancer, headaches, etc.

The products are wonderful. Since I began using the products, I became a Melaleuca Marketing Executive. I open accounts for people to shop direct with Melaleuca. You can order toll-free or on-line from a catalog once your membership is set up.

If you want, you can call me at ###-###-####. A lifetime membership with Melaleuca is $29, except for this month. Memberships are 1/2 price - $14.50. I can explain to you all about their products and how the membership works.

They are just like a wholesale buyer's club, except you buy in single items. They manufacture their own products here in the U.S.A., not like Shaklee who outsources their manufacturer. So you are actually getting the benefits of a higher quality, less expensive product. When you order, the products are conveniently delivered to your door.

If after we talk and you want to try out the products, I'll set up your membership. Melaleuca stands behind a 60-day money back guarantee. So you have 60 days to use the products to see if you enjoy them which I know you will.

Hope this helps.

p.s. The products are concentrated. Example: 1 bottle of all-purpose cleaner (409 equivalent) will make 4-24 oz. cleaning solutions. This makes it so much cheaper than the store brand - Melaleuca's Tough & Tender is approx. $5, but makes 4 bottles of cleaning solution which equals approx. $1.25 per bottle. MUCH CHEAPER! If you were to go to the website and didn't understand this, you would think differently.

Hi J., first I'd like to congratulate you on your efforts of being the very best Mom you can be. Staying at home and providing non-toxic alternatives for your family is right up there with the tops in excellent motherhood!!! The world needs more women like you, please do not ever become discouraged, your efforts may not be popular or show immediate results, but they will indeed give good fruit in due time.

I'm not sure how many Health Food stores there may be in your area, although I know there is a Whole Foods in West Palm beach. You could look there for the Ecover products, they cover a whole line of safer alternative cleaning products. Just yesterday I purchased a floor soap from Ecover that seeems very promising, it has only linseed oil as its main ingredient (it's probably good for wood furniture as well). Ecover lists all their ingredients on the label.

Another nice cleaning product is Dr. Bonner's Sal Suds. However I have only seen this in a store in Winter Park, and although most health food stores carry just about all the Dr.Bonner natural soaps (great safe soaps for the whole family), I have not seen the sal suds anywhere else but that one store. It also has this wonderful, pure pine scent from natural pine oils.

Seventh Generation also makes a strong Hydrogen Peroxide which is a good alternative to bleaching and can be sprayed for disinfecting, just be aware that it will bleach fabrics.

The good part is that everything is available for purchase over the internet, so if you don't see what you need at the health food stores, you can buy it online. Just do a google search for Dr. Bonner's Sal Suds or Ecover cleaning products.

Don't forget that there are things at the regular stores that are also safe for cleaning, such as Borax, vinegar and baking soda. Also, investing on a small, inexpensive steam cleaner is a great way to disinfect toys and play areas quickly.

I hope these things have helped. Many blessings to you and yours. :-)

hi J.! I had the same concerns as you, especially after the birth of my second precious child. When I watched Oprah do her "Going Green" show not too long ago, she talked about a brand of cleaning products called Shaklee. I ordered them online (everything from laundry detergent to window and glass cleaner!) and have been thrilled with everything. My allergies have not been bothering me as much since I began to use them- a huge bonus! THere are NO CHEMICALS and it makes me feel much better about cleaning. I even let my three-year-old help me spray and wipe down things be cause the products are very safe. They are a little pricey but they really last! You can go to the website by googling Shaklee. I also like Method prodicts I found at Target, but not quite as much. Hope this helps! Happy cleaning!
