Hello moms, I am interested in sending our 3 year old daughter to a montessori school in the Fairfax, Falls Church, or Tysons area. I have already searched online and can only seemed to find 2 (one which I have heard not good things about). Can anybody recommend, a montessori school in these areas?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I don't know the area very well. My children go to the Montessori School of Alexandria. It is an exceptional school! They don't advertise because they don't need to in order to keep running. I would be happy to talk to you more about it if you want. If it is too far out of your way I do know the DC Metro Area Parents magazine that comes out every couple months usually has a full page of Montessori schools listed.

I don't know the Falls Church area, but my daughter goes to a Montessori school in Ashburn. Most montessori schools encourage parents to do classroom observations. If you have any doubts about a school, absolutely do that - sit in a class for half an hour or so to get a feel for it. Montessori is great!! Good luck!

My 4 year old son has attended Reston Montessori School for the last year - I absolutely love it, and so does he. It came highly recommended from a number of parents and has a great reputation in our area. There are a number of students that attend from the Tysons/Vienna area - lots of parents that think it is well worth the drive. The teachers are great, there's a great PTA and tons of multi-cultural activities. I plan on keeping him there through kindergarten.

Both my kids attend Montessori Children's Center at 7 Corners in Falls Church. My son started at 18 months and goes to kindergarten this fall way ahead of the Fairfax County curriculum (reading at age 4, math, etc). This is more of a daycare center than a preschool, but their Montessori teaching methods are excellent. Many families from around the area drop off there and commute into DC. There is a good balance of structured time with teachers and Montessori "work" time. Ages 3 and up receive Spanish, French and dance class each week in the afternoons. Their daycare tuition is very reasonable compared to other Montessori daycares in the area. July and August months are optional and part-time care is available. Very low teacher turnover too. Good luck in your search.
