I am looking for other moms' that have developmentally delayed children with Hypotonic and possibly have or have had seizures. I have a 2 year old son that may have possibly been born with underdeveloped areas of his brain, mainly on the cerebelum. He is in Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, and has been since he was 6 months old. I wanted to find other moms' that are going through the same thing I am. I would like to talk to you and find out more information. My son has come so far in the last two years it is amazing what miricles GOD can do.

What can I do next?

Hi J.,
I hope you can give your son's therapists more credit for all THEY have done for him. It takes a lot of schooling to become a speech, occupational, or physical therapist, and it sounds like they are doing a great job with your son. I would give YOUR SON a lot of credit too for how far he has come. You and your family also deserve a lot of credit for getting him the help he needs as well as following through with what the therapists suggest you do at home. I wish you all the best for your son, but please give credit where credit is due when PEOPLE work so hard.

Hi J., I can definitely relate and it helps very much to talk to people going through similar things. My two boys are on the autism spectrum and receive therapy and special ed. I'll send you my email and would be happy to chat with you.

Hi J.,

This isn't what you were looking for but I am confused...did you say something that implied your therapists don't DO ENOUGH for your son or did you say you don't think they do a good job? I ask because of the one response you received so far basically said that. I felt badly that someone felt the need to respond to your request in that way. Hopefully more helpful replies will follow. My son is on the autism spectrum and I know how much we need the other Mom's to just talk and relate to. Hey I am in SCS too!

I have a one year old who is delayed with an underdeveloped cerebellum. She has been in EI since she was 2 months old and has thad wo seizures most recently this month. We see OT, PT, ST, and DTw/vision. She shows progress but it is really slow. It ha been a tough year but it would be great to be in contact with other parents in the same fight.

I am a mom with 2 children with Down syndrome and i do feel for you as it is hard to deal with all that goes with the developmental delays. i don't knowa lot about what your son has but sounds like you are taking a great approach. Something that i have tried to do with my girls is having them exposed as much as possible with typically developing children, that is if his health would allow it. That has helped them with speech and words that go with being a kid, has also helped with the physical stuff too. i would love to be able to talk to you and share some resources that i have come accross about different types of therapies and things that could cover all disabilities. Please feel free to email me and i can share. I also worked full time in the accounting field until i was laid off a little over a year ago and that is hard to do. God Bless you and your family
