where is he now? at a private school in nassau (bahamas)?
I would think that there should be someone to talk to at his current school, especially if it is a private school. how about other parents (parents of his friends)?
How 'ready' is he to go off? what can you afford? I ask this because there are private boarding schools (college prepatory)in the USA that have what is called a PG year- the PG stands for Post Graduate, I do believe, and it is a special program to give one more year of high school to students to really prepare them for college/university. They also have advisors to help prepare college applications & to really help in choosing colleges/universities...
There is even financial aid & scholarships for this one year, I do believe. One school that I know has this program (I'm sure you could google to find more) is
