Looking for a reputable place that offers "Mommy and Me" swim lessons for my 13 month old daughter and I. I would do outdoor or indoor and prefer somewhere in the Escondido / Rancho Bernardo / Carmel Mtn area.

What can I do next?

Murray Callan is the best swim place in that area. It is off of Rancho Santa Fe in San Marcos (right off the 78). Water is very warm and classes are small -- three kids in a class.

I have heard some good things about Murray Callan, but it is incredibly expensive and they require you to go three times a week for your first three weeks and then at least twice a week after that (still three in the summer months). We go to AquaPros (www.aquapros.org) classes at the YMCA in Clairemont, where the water is also warm and the classes are only up to four, but is WAY cheaper. I would check out local boys and girls clubs or ymcas and ask about their classes.

NOONAN FAMILY SWIM SCHOOL!!! They have a number of locations (one in your area). We have been attending since my son (now 2 1/2) was 19 mo. Awesome teachers...very patient & loving. It was a great mommy & me class. We both have made good friends through it.

I would check your local YMCA. They have wonderful instructors and are very reasonably priced.

I think Murray Callan is too far for you. It is right down the road from us and I paid over $1620 at Murray Callan last year for my daughter after she turned 2. The three days a week killed me, parking sucks and it is just a pain. I think it is good if you don't have much else going on. We have music classes and gymnastics. I took off in Feb, just to give myself a break and my daugher was not really into it at the time, nor was she still willing to swim herself. I planned to start back in May, but am looking into alternatives. I just posted a question as to if anyone has heard of www.swim2john.com
All of my neighbors have pools and if they host they get the lesson free. Sounds good and the $395 guaranteed swimmer sounds even better after the cash I laid out last year.

The Escondido Recreation Activity Center has a swim program that we have used and really enjoyed!

I have heard good things about all the places already mentioned. My 3 yo son will be taking lessons through the City of Poway this summer and I plan on enrolling my 11 month old DD into a Mommy and Me swim class through them as well this summer.

My second choice would be the YMCA in Rancho Penasquitos if I can't get my kids into the City of Poway classes.
