Seeking Mom's Groups in the Williamsville Area

I work part time (I am off on Monday's and Friday's), have 3 small children (all under the age of 4), no family in the area (we are not originally from the Buffalo area) and am finding it VERY difficult to connect with other mom's in the area. I really have no friends in the area that have children and I would so love to connect with others that do. I am looking for any suggestions of activities or groups that I can find. I used to love working part time but am finding lately that I don't really fit into either world. I went to a "WILLIAMSVILLE MOMS" group and although it was nice and people were welcoming, they were almost all stay at home moms. I can't join a play group or "club" that meets when I am at work. I am feeling out of the loop and am open to any suggestions that you may have. Additionally, I am looking to get my almost 4 year old into dance or gymnastics in the area....does anyone have any suggestions about that? Thank you in advance for your help!

What can I do next?

Hi D.,

I don't live in Williamsville but I am in North Buffalo and have a 3 year old boy and a 17 month old girl. I am always looking for playgroups to socialize my children. I run my own business from home. Which is nice but can also be challenging. My son just started preschool which gives me a lot of free time for my business.

I know there is a gymboreee playgroup in Williamsville. If you google mommy and me in buffalo ny see what comes up. The gymboree classes should come up and I am sure some others. Another great place to meet other moms and kids is The Buffalo Community Music School. They have a music and me class for kids 6 months to 3 years. It's on Elmwood Avenue but they also have a meeting in Snyder. Great classes for the kids. Helps them develope useful skills for future learning.

Also just google dance classes in williamsville ny and see what comes up. I just recently was looking up dance classes in this area for my daughter for the future.

When in doubt google it! haha

Hi, I am also not from the Buffalo area and once I had my son (he is almost one) I wanted him to be around other kids. I am a stay at home mom, but I wanted my husband to be involved so I joined Gymboree. I noticed that someone else also mentioned this, but I thought I would go into more detail since I am a member. We go to a class that starts at 6:30 on Tuesdays. It is in Williamsville & they have classes at all different times, and they have open play group (one is from 5:30 to 6:30 on Thurs & you see all age ranges). They also have classes on Sat. I do not know how you would work out having all three kids at one time, but you can look into it. You can sign-up on-line for a free trial. Good luck finding something. I almost forgot to add it is quite expensive.

Hi D.! Welcome to Buffalo. I was wondering if you ever found a place where you connected with other moms? Like you, I moved from out of state (a little over 2 years ago). I was very blessed to find a bible study for women who had just moved into the area. This helped me connect with women coming from all walks of life. I wasn't sure if you were hoping to find a playgroup for your children or more of a group designed for moms.

I belong to a MOPS group (Mothers of Preschoolers) which meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday's of the month. I know you had mentioned you work part-time but wasn't sure if your schedule had changed or was flexible? They do offer free childcare but you need to make sure to register them before the program starts (September - May) If you want more information check out the website http://www.thrivewomen.com/mops/
I can not tell you how wonderful this program is! I have made so many friends from this ministry. My children are also forming friendships which continue to grow.

I hope this helps. You are not alone here! If you would like to get in touch and try a playdate with me (my boys are now 3 1/2 and 14 1/2 months) please feel free to respond! I'm always looking for new girlfriends!

Hi D.! Like you I work part time and I also reside in the Williamsville area. I have been in the area for about 10 years, and in Williamsville about 4. I have a 12 and 11 year old so I am aware of alot of activities going on in the area. My daughter took gymnastics and dance. I know Flips Gym offers Gymnastics as well as dance. Also, when you recieve a book in the mail I think it's called Adventures, it list alot of activities in the area at no or low cost if you reside in the community. Swimming, sports, dance, computer classes, cooking, any and everything you can think of. Some of the activities are for kids, adults, and families. A good idea if you don't have one is to get a residence card at the Pepsi Center, that way you have proof of residency and some of the fees will be waived or reduced. Don't worry in a few years once they start school there will be plenty of activities to get involved in. Williamsville has an excellent school system with plenty of programs and events to offer. Trust me you won't be bored! I hope I was some help!
