I'm looking for a playgroup (maybe even playdates at the park) and/or a Mommy group. I'd love to meet other parents with preschool & younger children. We just moved here and don't really know anyone. Look forward to hearing from you!

What can I do next?

Another suggestion... go to meetup.com and look up groups by city, then look under parenting. There are a couple mother's groups that meet at least once every month. They are a wonderful group of ladies and the membership is free. One of the groups is having a potluck lunch/picknic meetup at the Marina Jacks park on Tuesday, May 8th at 12:30 ( http://moms.meetup.com/1830/calendar/5717273/ )

Good luck!!!

T.,
Pick up the Mommy Magazine. You can find it at Kids etc on Clark Road behind Moe's. They are all mommies that publish the magazine and last time I saw one it had play date schedules in it. It is very helpful for newcomer. Who knows maybe they need a photographer also. Good Luck and Welcome to Florida it is a great place to be.

I've been several times recently to Colonial Oaks Park with my son who is 2. Different days each time. It is shaded and fenced, with only 1 small opening to enter/exit. Each time we go a number of moms and kids seem to show up between 9 and 10 AM. The kids always seem to be between 1 1/2 and maybe 5...
Also, Arlington Park just redid and fenced their playground (green space next to pool). About half of it is shaded and there is new equipment. I haven't been yet, but it looked great when I drove by it the other day.
Forty carrots parenting center is near Arlington Park. They have some programs for mommies and kids, and may be able to point you in the direction of a playgroup.

The public libraries have some planned activities for your age kids as well.
Selby library has a preschool story time for ages 3 - 5 on Thursdays from 10:30 -11:15 and Gulf Gate has the same age group program on Fridays from 10:00 - 10:30.
Hope this helps. :)

Hi T.,

Welcome to Sarasota/Bradenton! The Young Mothers League is a great Moms group. Check it out at www.ymls.org My daughter is 7 now, but I've been a member since she was about 3.

Have a good one... W.
