We just went to an AWESOME art fair called Depart-ment. http://www.depart-ment.com The stuff you are describing would fit right in! I noticed a lot of the artists also had their work available on etsy.com.
Good luck!
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me by giving me advice on where I may be able to sell my original greeting card gift sets,(9 cards in a handsewn case, two different series of cards) and one-of-a-kind, cut-paper greeting cards(Italian cards, and envelopes), blank for any occassion.
I would also like to sell handpainted items for children's rooms, including rocking chairs, doll cradles, toy chests, and other coordinating items.
Do you have some suggestions of events or stores/boutiques that may be interested in original work like I have to offer? I am mostly home with my two little ones, and I haven't lived in the area that long, so I would appreciate any advice that you may have.
I have been struggling for a long time to figure out a way to make ends meet for our family of six, and I am an artist so, I am trying to do something great! My husband works full-time for a non-profit organization, and it's a very stable job which is great because he has had, and continues to have, health problems that need an understanding employer(He had three major intestinal surgeries between the end of June and the middle of September), so needless to say, it falls on me to take up the slack.
Our two oldest are in school, and I am home with my younger two babes.
Thank you for your thoughts...

Try all the childrens' boutiques in town: LMNOP, The Red Balloon, Stinky Pants, etc. But don't forget all the online maketplaces like eBay or etsy.com would be a great one too. Best of luck to you!
Gretchen, there is well-frequented artisan shop in Plaza Del Largo in Wilmette, IL that takes items. I don't know the name of the store, but I am sure the Chamber of Commerce will know. And I don't know what their terms and conditions are.
I don't know of an actual store, but you might want to look at Etsy.com- it has all kinds of the things you're describing! Also, look into arts and crafts fairs - like the Bucktown fair or Hyde Park.
Good Luck!
Heathers Cafe at 4352 N. Cicero sells such items. Call Heather at ###-###-####
You might also want to try marketing your items on craig's list. For instance in the Kids/baby section you could display some of your handpainted childrens items. If you are willing to ship you could select a couple of markets other than Chicago. The great thing about craigslist.com is that it is FREE!
