Seeking Kid's Gym/playgroup

I am looking for a structured children's playgroup, not a day care. I would just like something to get my 16 month old exposed to other children. I am not necessarily looking for a drop off and leave type thing, I am fine with being present and participating or watching him. I just want him to begin to interact with other children. Let me know if anyone is involved with one or has heard of something like that. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Not sure where you live, but MOMs clubs have great playgroups. It's only $20 to join and there are other activities too: http://www.momsclub.org/links.html

I have been a part of the Allen Early Childhood PTA since my 4.5 year old was 3 months old. She is very socialized and has lot's of friends throughout the community. I love that she can say she has been friends with them since such an early age, and I am confident that she has met so many people in this community that she will know at least one person where ever we go OR will have the skills to make friends and join in a crowd very easily. I cannot say enough about this group. www.aecpta.com

Good luck with whatever you choose!

I love the MOMS Club that I am in. There playgroups and other activities each month for the kids including a General Meeting. It is a wonderful way for you and your child to socialize. If you need information on any in Flower Mound, I can get it for you. Just send me an email. My children and I have made wonderful friends through this organization.

Excite gym open play is great as well. There's one in Flower Mound and Highland Village.

My son and I love attending classes at The Little Gym. We go to the one in Carrollton, but there are several around. You might also look to see if there is a Gymboree or My Gym close to you. We are also active in a play group that meets weekly that I truly believe has been a blessing to the both of us. Try looking up a play group on www.meetup.com or yahoogroups.

I have taken my son to Gymboree in Plano (Parker and Independence) since he was 4 months old. He LOVES it. Great social interaction. I highly recommend any class on Tues/Thurs. The teacher - Ms. Julia - is fantastic. She fosters a wonderful atmosphere for the kids (and the moms). Our class really bonded and we have formed our own play group outside of Gymboree. What I liked is that the kids were all within the same age range and the curriculum included learning for the kids as well as social interaction. I was part of MOMS club, but did not care for it. My son was always so much younger than everyone and we just didn't receive much value. Of course, that is just my experience and I would suggest checking it out. I would not call it structured though. good luck! i would bet that anything you do with your son is time well spent!
