Hi! Dr. Yvonne Lipson of Lakewood Family Medicine is awesome!! There are other doctors there too. She is great with adults and kids!
We live in South Lakewood and we are looking for a new doctor in our area. I prefer a female physician in her mid-30s through 40s. We'd like a practice that has more than one physician so it is easier to get an appointment, but not too large of a practice. Do you have any recommendations? What are your feelings on internal medicine versus family practice? Our kids see a pediatrician right now but it would be nice to have an alternative closer to our house.

Hi J.,
I have a great dr here in Lakewood, he is a male though almost 40 but he is wonderful he has been my dr for almost 5yrs and my son'since he was born 3yrs ago and our family friend has gone to him for almost 6yrs. They have a great office with a 2 drs and a PA. There office feels like you are in a cabin in Vail but there quality of service is amazing. It is very friendly and personable. It is called Mile High Medcine, they have there own website too. I prefer Family instead of internal. But we have been going to family forever. Good Luck and hope you try these guys out.
I don't know of anyone in that area, but wanted to address your internist vs family practice question. In general, internists are not trained in pediatrics. Most internists don't see people younger than 13 or so. So you may have to ask if you find an internist that you like if they treat kids.
It's a preference thing between a family practitioner vs a pediatrician for kids. I would want to make sure that if you go with family practice, that they actually see a large percentage of kids. Many family practices see primarily adults. I personally prefer pediatricians for kids because you know that's the patient population they always treat.
Hi J.
I don't know how southwest you live, but Dr Julie Cordova at Littleton Pediatrics is fantastic. They are on 8340 S Sangre de Cristo Rd 80127, if you would like to mapquest it. Phone ###-###-####
I have a 16 month old and one on the way. Dr Julie takes a lot of time and care with us. We always have lots of questions and she always has great information and help guide us to make our own decisions. She also is a mother, which I think gives her more compassion.
Good Luck!!
Hi J.,
We love Dr. Darcy Scheeler at Pinon Family Practice. It's in
the Southwest Plaza Area, just south of Bowles & Wadsworth.
My girls have all connected with her, she's energetic and caring. There's more than one Dr, another woman and a man.
Not usually hard to get an appointment. ###-###-####.
We love Dr. Michael Schindel at Mile High Family Practice. ###-###-####. He has a new doctor there that I haven't met, and the PA, Cynthia is great. I've known Dr. Schindel since he was in high school. They have a lot of "extras" that they offer at the office, as well. Cynthia is very knowledgeable and has always done a great job for us. Even before they added the new doctor, we never had any trouble getting a same day appointment, and they do great with phone calls for questions. We have a "sick" kid, so we've done the same day appt. thing a lot with no problems. They're at the corner of Alameda and Wadsworth in the Belmar District on Alaska. You can see they're office in the Whole Foods building when you're headed South. As far as I know they are accepting new patients. They are on most insurances, but not on Medicaid. GL! I know he's not a woman, but we absolutely love him!
