Is there anyone that belongs to this group? Just wanted to get any info. on it before I tried it. On the web site it sounds great. Just wanted to know what kind of volunteering needs to be done and what the baskets usually cost? Here is the website if anyone would like to check it out. Bountifulbaskets.org
Thanks everyone

I've participated for about a year and a half. I have a large family (5 children), so I buy 2 baskets per cycle. No volunteering is required, though they love volunteers. Anyone who does pitch in gets extra produce at the end of the distribution. The baskets cost $17 for the first time you buy and $15 each time after that. That is because they have to buy distribution baskets for each participant. Every basket is estimated to be $50-60 worth of produce. It is mostly staple items, like carrot, broccoli, potatoes, etc.

There are extra add-ons, like locally baked bread and locally made cheese. Sometimes there's bulk offers, like apples or tomatoes. Sometimes there are spice, herb, or tea offers. All of the offers are great prices.

Hi S.,

I participate in this co-op and I really love the value! You do NOT have to volunteer but they love it if you can. You normally get quite a bit of yummy veggies and fruit for just $15 ($17 on your first time). So, you get about $50 worth of produce for a fraction of the cost. They also offer other items for pick-up like breads and cheeses, sometimes oils, vinegars - very convenient and they get only the best quality products too. Please let me know if you have any questions. I love the co-op!

Thanks,
M.

I also love the co-op. The value is incredible compared to grocery store prices. Most of the time I am able to use all the items in my basket, especially with the help of the emailed recipies. Sometimes there is that rare item my family won't eat but I usually have no trouble finding a friend who will use it.

I belong to Bountiful Baskets and have received about six times now. I am very happy with them. The cost is %15.00 per basket. Each time I get a basket, it fills two round laundry baskets a little over half full. The breads are fantastic and cost $2.00 per loaf. In the store they cost $4.00. There are several pickup locations and you pick the one closest to you. Hope this helps. Enjoy, S. Noland

A little about me, I am a grandmother of 23 and I tutor individuals(children and adults) that struggle with reading and spelling.

Hi S.!

I used Bountiful Baskets once and was really impressed. For the general produce basket (about a laundry basket full), it was around $20. First time users get charged an additional fee (I think it was $2-3 dollars, nothing big). They send out reminders and recipe ideas once you are signed up with them. They also have other deals on things like bread and cheese and holiday offerings (See's candy, for example). I paid online and pick-up was simple. They already have the food portioned out and you are assigned a number. That number corresponds with the laundry basket(s) with your food in it. You just transfer your food over to your own container, stack up the laundry baskets with the empties, and that's it. They asked anyone who could to take some extra cardboard boxes (trash) away. Other than that, I think volunteering at your site is totally optional and usually involves helping to sort out the produce into the baskets evenly, etc. I'll definitely use them again, my schedule just hasn't allowed for pick-up, lately. The produce was great, there was a good amount and variety (which completely depends on season/availability). Hope that helps!

I also do the co-op and love it. Well worth the money. I do volunteer, but it's not a required I do it because I enjoy helping out. The items you get are great and the other items you can also purchase are good also. You should try it at least once I don't think you would be dissappointed.

I am a SAHM of two a boy and a girl.

The best way to know is to try it. I use the coop when I remember. I really like buying bread, cheese and spices from them when offered, because it is offered at a great price. We feel like it is a good deal, but since you never get to choose what will be in your produce basket, we usually get somethings we don't like. For example, last week we got asparagus which no one in my family eats. We gave it to some neighbors and figure that the rest of the stuff still makes it a good deal. No one is required to volunteer, unless you want to.

The baskets are great! You just show up either before to help fill the baskets or you can come and help pass out the extras. Repeat bakets are 15.00.
