Hi,
I've been trying to find out any information about what classes my 2 yr. old son can take (with or without me) and where. We've taken some classes at the Oak Brook Park District which have been nice. However, the types of classes are very limited and the fees are getting way too expensive. I'm also looking into preschools now just to get an idea of what's out there. Does anyone please have any info to share with me?

What can I do next?

PACES puts out a book with a variety of preschools, their times, ages, fess etc. You can get the preschool guidebook at Anderson's book store in Downers Grove. It is not necessarily a comprehensive list but a very good place to start your search.

Check out your local libraries. Mine has a reading class for toddlers and parents, and it is free. Unfortunately, there is a waiting list. Also Gymboree has classes, but I believe they are a little pricey. I am taking some park district classes with my daugther, and they are about $6/class. It is worth it to get out of the house and allow her learning opportunities, as well as socialization for both her and me.

Hi K.,
I would also look at your surrounding park districts to see what they offer. Also, Music Together is great for music. You also might want to see what your local hospital offers as far as classes. I know that Edwards in Naperville and Good Sam's in Downers offer classes for moms and tots, but on a limited basis. Also, don't forget about your local library! They usually have a storytime and it is a good way to meet other moms with kids your child's age.

As far as preschools, you might want to check with your local PACES Group (http://www.pacesmoms.com/region_2.html). You can purchase a Preschool Guidebook ($5.00) and talk to them about attend a preschool forum.

Good Luck!
S.
